Why am I not losing weight?

Okay....I have delayed making this post but I am just so frustrated right now that I need some support.  So far I have not lost a single pound in 9 days.  I am not doing liquids anymore.  I know that the doctors said once I started eating food that the weight loss would slow down but I didn't think it would completely halt.  This is disheartening because I swear I'm not taking in any more than 500 calories a day.  How can I not be losing weight?  For one thing, my body is not used to getting this much liquid.  I swear, I'm like a cactus....before surgery I could go all day without drinking anything.  So I'm pretty much thinking that I'm holding onto water but exactly how much water can you hold on to before it starts showing some weight loss on the scale?  Since my surgery I have lost 14 pounds and I KNOW that is ALOT in 3 weeks but it just isnt as much as some of the other people I have seen that are around the same size as me.   I'm really getting irritated about this.....did any of you experience this?  Did you start seeing better results?

First of all, you're unique....you're not like me, or like anyone else on the board, so you cant hold yourself to the same standards.  there are a number of things that you didn't give us a clue about....how about exercise?  I walk about 3 miles a day....and i've pulled off about 30 pounds in about 2 weeks, but i'm a guy and i live on water and vitamins.  Will it last for me?  no....   Before I had my surgery I was already in ketosis, i lived like a militant low carb fanatic, so i'm used to pulling extreme amounts of weight, then I hit a stall, I change my diet, wait for a month and boom, the stall moves along and I start the fat burning machine up again.  It can't be done without exercise. Are you taking vitamins?  are you sure they're working?  Go back to a full liquid diet and use ketosis strips to track your progress.  These things are tools to give you an indication of how your body is respondng to the things you're doing/not doing.  So stop getting down on yourself.  Time is on your side.  You're attractive, vibrant, and you canre about how you look.  So you've got the potential, just change your mindset and suffer for a few days go back to straight liquids like water and push your body until you see the results you want or simply follow the plan you had and give yourself time to shine.  God could have made the Earth in a single moment in time, but instead he took his time to admire his works and decided to make it an adventure instead......don't be afraid of the adventure since you're going to be nothing less than an incredible woman once the story ends.... Your not doing anything wrong.  A stall is normal at your stage.  I lost alot of weight in the first 3 weeks, then boom I didnt lose anything for almost 2 weeks. The doctor warned me this would happen.  Your body has to have time to adjust to the changes.  Think about how many calories you ate before surgery, then you go to straight liquids and now your only getting in about 500 calories.  Your body has to adjust.  Trust me the weight will start coming off again.  I do not think you should go back to the liquid phase.  Follow your doctors diet plan. You have to progress up to eating solid food.  I followed the doctor's eating plan to a T and I have lost 111 lbs in just over 4 months.  There will be stalls during the whole process, but I continued to lose inches even when I wasn't losing pounds. Increasing your activity does help, but trust me there will be times when you are doing everything right and still won't lose. This is a great tool, just keeping following the guidelines given to you by your doctor and it will happen.

Don't worry about any body else...YOUR body is just saying whoa.....wait a mnute here, what's going on?  Give it time to adjust and I believe that quality food is important here, tells your body you are going to nouri****

I know it's frustrating, but hang in there.  It's called a plateau, as though that word doesn't become a dirty word when you've gone through so much to lose weight.  Stick with it.  After your body figures out it isn't starving it will kick back in and start losing again.  Trust me, I speak from experience.  My stall was about three weeks  Water, exercise and protien -- and keep your chin up !

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, too..so if you're exercising a lot, that could be it too..Ditto to what the others have said, but don't go back to liquids this early on in your weight loss. Stick to the doc's diet plan..it works..Think about it this way..If you're not losing pounds you are inches, and going more slowly helps your skin's elasticity...maybe you won't have the hangly danglies like I do...of course, that's due to heredity and age, but my DH pep talked me that way that it was better for my body to do it slowly...it's not a race...yadda, yadda, yadda....and even during a stall, I lost inches too. What was hard for me was to see commercials where people lost 45 pounds and 6 dress sizes, while I had lost one. I stall about every month which is why I weigh monthly instead of weekly..It'll happen for you...your body just has to adjust..you are not going to fail at this...

You are in the dreaded 3rd- 4th week stall.  When you start mushies your body gets confused after being on liquids for so long.  DO NOT GO BACK ON LIQUIDS!!  When my stall was 2 weeks old I emailed Jessica (nutritionist) and asked about going back on liquids since I was so frustrated.  She said to keep advancing my diet as allowed and tolerated and eventually my body would figure it all out.  It took a while but I did lose another 6 pounds.  I am stalled again right now.  I suspect that will be my pattern- lose a few pounds and then stall again and repeat.

You are not doign anything wrong.  It is normal, frustrating but normal.

I'm so sorry that you're at that place.  I know that I was there at the same time as Denise, and it is NOT a happy place.  My stupid body stayed at one weight for 28 days, beginning in the second week of my mushies.   I have put a lot of thought into this, and I really believe that we have to let our bodies move at their own pace.  We can do all the right things, but the body will sometimes have to re-adjust to the (really pretty rapid) changes on its own.  All I can say is to just stick with the plan from WW - keep drinking your water (maybe even try to up it a little if you can) and keep on exercising.  They have seen lots of people through this process, and I feel like they do an excellent job. As you said - if you are taking in 500 calories or less a day, there is no way that your body will be able to hold onto the pounds over the long term.  Keep the faith and keep working the progam - your scale WILL move eventually! As I said at the first, I'm sorry this has to be part of the process for us... it sucks... I'm at the same weight now for the fourth day in a row - AGAIN - my body is re-adjusting, I guess.  At least that means I'll have clothes that fit for a while longer.    Hang in there!  We can all do this! Shauna, Are you keeping a food journal? If not, try that because sometimes we consume more than we think if it's not written down. You may be taking in too few calories. Get with Jess and talk to her about it. In the mean time hang in there and don't get discouraged. The scale has to move. Also don't weigh everyday. Keep your chin up because you can and will do this.
