I can run my hands through my hair and out comes 2 hand fuls.  I get ready for work and make sure I have picked it all of fmy shirt and within a bit there are more hairs. I feel worse then a shedding cat.  I know PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN.... I am now on 3 shakes a day which will give me 45 grams of protein I am having hard boiled eggs minus the yolks everyday for lunch.  I still cant seem to get more then about 60 grams of protein a day. what am I going to do????

I asked my hairdresser abotu Nioxin shampoo.  She said it might help with regrowth.  She didn't think it would prevent loss however.  I have been taking Biotin for about a month.  I plan on buying Nioxin shampoo this weekend.  I am not losing hair yet but don't want to risk it.  I already have think hair.  i really don't want to need a wig!
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I'm taking 5,000 mcg of Biotin daily.  I have no idea if it will help but I really, really don't want to lose my hair.  I wish I had some great advice for you but I don't.  Hopefully, someone will have something to add here that will help us!

What shakes are you drinking?  There are some with higher protein values than 3 = 45.  Matrix is one, isopure is another (I only 1 use scoop of isopure for like 105 calories and 23 grams of protein).

I've been taking 5000 biotin and getting all my protein, but that does not stop the hair loss, sorry to say.  From 4-6 mos out was the worse.  It has slowed now and I am waiting for the regrowth.  I cut my hair short, but I like short hair.  (I also have myself a nice wig, for dressing up to give me the look of more hair)  It will come back, just takes time.

That is rough. Try your best to increase your protein ... try some different protein drinks that are greater in protein value, eat some protein bars, and add a biotin supplement. Your loss is probably surgery related, but it could also be from not enough protein in your diet or other deficiency. Do your best to up your protein, take biotin, take all your vitamins, and in a fairly short time you will be sprouting new hair. Also, try to find some Nioxin shampoo like Denise suggested to help with regrowth.

I forgot to add, if you try some Chike drinks they have 27 or 28 grams of protein per drink (if mixed with water) depending on the flavor. If you add skim milk instead of water, it will add additional protein and get you right up to 40 gms. of protein per drink. Also, you don't have to worry about the protein not being absorbed, because that is a myth about the body not being able to absorb 40 gms. of protein at once as stated in the recently released WLS Dietary report.

Also, Chike is excellent quality protein, unlike the collagen protein *bullets* which are not recommended (the amino acids are incomplete in 8 of the 9 amino acids contained) as published in the same referenced and newly released dietary report that was presented at the latest ASBS conference.

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
