Question about the clear liquids

I know I'm not there but I'm a planner....can anyone tell me what is in the protein drink you must have after the surgery? Is it a clear liquid protein drink? Or is is Whey or something??? Is broth and crystal lite all you can drink ? I know they will tell me all this...but I am just curious about a couple things...Is the broth regular bullion cubes or is it a special type of broth too?   Crazy questions but it's like I am mentally preparing all of a sudden.

I drank EAS Advant-edge.  You can buy them at Wa*-Ma**.  I did real broth and bullion cubes.  The real broth seemed a little 'fatty' to me and made me a little ill...I think I really craved the saltiness of the bullion.  Other than that....yes, water, chrystal light and  ~ oh that's it...They will go over all of these things at your pre-op appt and then again when you leave the hospital.  They're wonderful -  and if you forget, or are just plain-ol in a drug induced stupor when you leave, just give 'em a call & they'll tell you again.....or.....you can just ask us.  We're always willing to help.

I guess what I'm wondering is, if it would be possible to get more protein in..... if you could mix the protein shake mixes in when you make the sugar free jello or if you made your own popcicles with crystal lite or other flavors ?? I didn't know if it was a liquid or something that you had to buy there. I knew it was a clear broth type phase of this but I knew a protein shake was standard too....so..... I am just this way....forgive me for being so inquisitive...but I am always trying to create things so I was just wondering about this....

One idea is to mix the unflavored Unjury protein in with the jello.  (available at WW and 20% off tonight!)  HappyCat did that and said she couldn't taste it.  It did make the jello a little cloudy.  Some people suggest putting protein powder in their coffee.  I haven't done this but it sounds like a great idea! Make sure you find me tonight as I am a little dumb at recognizing people!

Hi, I'm new also and full of questions like yourself.  My weight is at highest its ever been.  Gathering as much information like you.  Its kinda scary isn't it.  I went to 1 siminar at Integris and have chosen their doctor.  What made you decide to pick Dr. Walton?  Oh I forgot, I live in Bethany also.  Close to Lake Overholster.

I chose Dr. Walton because I had been to see another Dr. who had worked with him before. He was a wonderfully sweet man *****commended Dr. Walton as being one of the best. This Dr. no longer did WLS. He told me that if he had a family member who needed it, he would send them to him....Also seeing Bob Barry Jr. on Channel 4 do so well, and knowing that Dr. Walton was his Dr. I really thought he would be the Dr. for me....I attended two seminars....one before the sleeve was available and one a month or so ago. Both times I was so impressed with him that I made my final decision about him and the type of surgery that I wanted. I also have seen the people on here that have used him and what that has done is reaffirm my decision on the doctor. His reputation preceeds him.  Welcome to the board! It is a great support system.  Sherry

Thanks!  Have you got a date yet? Did you have any problems getting a letter from your primary Doc?  I have all the tests finished due to some other health problems.  I read on one site that hair loss is a problem.  Have you heard that?  I also read where gas x strips were good after surgery.  I guess the disolve on your tougue.  You are so right about this web site.  Everyone is great.

You can have any kind of protein drink but they will tell you to have it only if you are light-headed or fatigued.  That is what hunger will feel like in the beginning.  HappyCat and I did protein bullets in the beginning.  They are available at GNC and have 42 - count 'em 42 - grams of protein each.  You miss with crystal light or whatever and they're pretty easy to get down and make you feel better.  I didn't really find these until 1 week post-op and they saved my life!!! Bullion and broth have lots of sodium.  So if you weigh the next day, DON'T FREAK OUT!  It is jus****er retention! Preparation is key so it's a good thing!  Make sure you get sf popsicles!  They will save your life because you get to chew them!!!!!

Well then I'm not so crazy to be planning ahead....plus I live alone so I will need all this stuff in order before I do anything. One thing I have learned on here is that the water retention WILL go away!! lol Everyone has freaked about it.....so I learned!   The Veg. broth that comes like bullion cubes tastes like Thanksgiving dinner!!  They are hard to find and they are by some mexican company like in a yellow box but sooooo good. I am stocking up on stuff now. I'm so ready!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the heads up on the protein bullets! I will write that on my list of "to get" stuff.  I have alot to lose first before I even get in the surgery door....but when I come out, I'll be ready!
