I am 2 weeks post-op RNY and starting the rest of my vitamnins 2 of them are in capsule form.  Is it ok to swallow the capsule or do I need to open it up.  Thanks

Heather

I think you're supposed to be doing chewables only.  That's what VSG'ers have to do.  I don't know about opening up the capsules.  Maybe somebody smarter will chime in here!

Heather, our notebooks say not capsules or pills for at least 6 weeks. See about getting your vitamins in chewable form. ; ) I use Centrum Chewable multivitammins for vitamin plus iron. I use the Bariatric Advantage Chewable Calcium Citrate from OWLO for calcium. You can get B12 in sublingual drops form ... I think you may already have that. The Omeaga 3 & 6 (fish oil or flax oil) ... I used the Coromega packets in the beginning from OWLO. I'm on gelcaps now from Walmart ... Organic Rexall Flax Oil gel caps (but couldn't take these capsules untila 6 - 8 weeks out). Good Luck! : )

Well what I dont understand is that they sold me the Vitamin b-50 which is in cap form and dry vitamin b so why would they have me spend my money on things I cant even take?  I am so confused it is making me crazy.

I'd call the office and ask because that certainly is confusing! Maybe it can be opened and sprinkled on your food? I've not bought either of those supplements, so I don't know. By the way, CONGRATULATIONS on getting to pureed foods! YUMMY! : )

Duh...I was giving WW rules.  I totally forgot you had your WLS in Norman.  Yep, I'd take Shelley's advice and call the office :o)

Hello Heather, My doctor said just chewable - but I did happen to ask him about tynelol capsules one time, he said as long as they are tynelol they were fine.  So I bet you would be fine hon.  How are you feeling?  Are you hungry at all?  Are you getting around better?  I know my first two weeks were awful, hope your not discouraged, it gets so much easier now.   Good luck, and happy 4th to you and yours. Brenda
