New Tennis Shoes and a quote

Hubby and I had a great outing today ... shopping for new tennis shoes. We went to OK Runner in Norman ... where you are measured, they watch you walk without shoes, then fit your shoes and watch you walk again ... and then send you walking outside for a bit to make sure all is well. They also select shoes for you that are specifically geared to the activities you are involved in for your program. For me that was walking, aerobic exercise, strength training, and biking. I'm now wearing my new shoes. Hubby's had to be special ordered ... he has very unique size 12+ feet. They should be in in a week to 10 days.

Don't forget the importance of having proper fitting and good quality shoes when exercising. Poor quality or ill fitting shoes can cause injuries and work against you in your strides to health. Also, remember that shoes don't last forever and you need to realize when your exercise shoes are no longer effective and worn out.

So, new exercise shoes are the final stage of my hitting Onederland last week celebration. ; )

Lastly, a quote from *You On A Diet* and my rheumatologist both ... for every one pound you lose, it takes *3* pounds of stress off of your supporting joints. Plus, for every one pound you lose, it takes *7* pounds of stress off of your supporting joints when climbing stairs!

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I love new shoes, as well, but for me, sadly, it's usually a new pair of high heels or wedge sandals lol.  I did, however, get some awesome Asics workout shoes for my high arches on my feet and they have been a lifesaver with exercising. Also, I really love that quote... I've heard that before and it really does ring true.   Your joints feel tons better when you take the weight off them, that's for sure.  **hugs**

Oh, Asics are great with the gel inside the sole. Hubby has some that he has literally worn out from use. I can't wait to lose more weight and give my joints a more reasonable load! ; )

Oh yeah, new shoes and properly fitting ones are the bomb!.  I'm going to give my pet peeve though-the fashion shows that belittle women for wearing sneakers all the time-it's all I CAN wear unless I want to go fuse my ankle to my tibia.

No gripe with saying "flats would look better with this skirt"........cause they would.  But saying "you don't CARE about your appearance" or "honey, you aren't in highschool"....that's just mean.

I know exactly what you're talking about ... those shows are very annoying to me, too! I have enough physical issues without adding bunions, hammer toes, and all sorts of lower leg and foot maladies to my list! ; )

My sister was in town a few weeks ago and we both went and were fitted, and bought, MBT's. I love them! I have never been a tennis shoe wearer but now that I am starting to walk more I knew I needed a really good pair of shoes. I wore them to work last week and everyone commented on how ugly they were, but I did not care as they are the most comfortable things I have ever had on my feet! I also have never paid so much for a pair of shoes, but decided it was time!
