Great analogy.  As a self pay, I'm sensitive to the whole insurance sidestep dance.  I actually stayed away from support groups because I felt bad for people all the time because of it.  Now I'm just working on not getting mad about it all over again every time I read something stupid-so I get a lot of practice.

Honestly, I've had a support group of one for the last six years. I've just begin to realize how many wonderful people there are here and the advice, support and help offered.

I've got an appointment on Tuesday to get a brain MRI. I've already had a brain scan, and I know without a doubt that the VA is just reaching for straws trying to find any excuse to not give me the WLS. They say that they just want to be sure that I'm okay from my episode where I just about died. What they fail to recognize, is the facts. If I had been given WLS years ago that episode would have never happened.

Yep, I get so frustrated I just want to scream and go postal on the VA. No, I won't do that, but the thought sure crosses my mind. Yukon had a big ceremony for veterans July 3, and honored us with dinner, fireworks, and so much more. For awhile I just completely forgot about my fight and had a good time.

If I were Bill Gates, instead of supporting the people of Africa (that is not a bad thing) I would see to it that every person in American that needed this surgery and didn't have the means to pay for it would get the WLS.

Part of the problem, at least in my opinion, is that the big drug companies don't want to cure diabetes. If diabetes medication was reduced, even by a third, do you realize what kind of an impact that would have? No, they like selling the insulin, metaformin, glybride, and all the other medications.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox and just say have a wonderful weekend.
