Thanks, That's what I was afraid of. Way to much sugar and carbs for us RNY patients.

Rita -- I get the soy things at weightwise and the health food store to satisfy my crunch craves.  It's not as good as they used to be -- but it helps.

Definitely Pasta - It has always been my downfall every time I attempted to lose weight in the past, and I wasn't so sure how I was going to handle being without it this time. Happy to say that I do not really care anymore, and I don't crave it. I have been around it, at restaurants and  these past few days at my sister's house, and it doesn't affect me.  It's a strange and happy feeling, sort of a WOW moment to realize it's not my weakness anymore.  - Anna

Just like Anna, I was a HUGE pasta lover.  I thought after this surgery not having spaghetti, lasagna, and fettucini alfredo would kill me!  I tried spaghettie Squash a few weeks ago just to try to get the taste, and I was so sick from the tomato sauce that I will probably never try it again.  And I don't miss the other stuff like I thought I would.  I also can't stomach shrimp, one of my other favorite foods and I don't miss that either.  The things I would absolutely love to have:  BREAD, baked Mac and Cheese, and POPCORN!  Anybody have decent substitutes for those things???  Diana

Soda was mine. I really was afraid I would have withdrawls, but I didn't. It is not as bad as I thought. I don't miss it at all!!!!

Bread of any kind.  I was a total carbaholic.  The more carbs it had the better I liked it.  When I first started the agressive pre-op diet plan I thought I was dying the first day.  I even emailed Jessica and whined about how bad I felt.  Thankfully the next day was easier and each day got easier.  I now can't believe how addicted I was and how much better I feel without all those cartbs in my system.  Yeah, Dr. Walton and Jessica! I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Ok, here's the 2 biggies for me... DR PEPPER. (well all soda in general, but dp is the worst)  Thought I would literally die on spot without it, but it's just horrible sugary nasty to me now.  And the other is ICE CREAM... makes my stomach turn and will induce dumping with just a couple of bites so I know to stay far, far away from it.  I'm horribly lactose intolerant since my RNY.

Chip and salsa with some guacamole!  Anything salty and crunchy I really miss!  I did try some soy chips just recently and they were pretty good.  But they weren't Cool  Ranch Doritos!!!

For me it would be bread. I loved Olive Garden bread sticks, bread anywhere at any time. I haven't even wanted to eat it at all post op.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
