Hi everyone.  Here is the deal. I hate fish and my son is on a quest to find ways that I will eat it after my surgery. I got a brain fart and decided to ask you all to share your recipes with Dennis so he can torture me some more. So if you have a recipe that is not real fishy tasting and not to hard please share it with me.  Dennis has decided that fi**** the best thing for me to eat after surgery and he is determined to make me eat it. He is such a sweetie and I hate to hurt his feelings so i have been giving it a shot. boy does he give me a look when I wont take more than one bite...lol Ok friends lay those Fish recipes on me.

Try grilling with a litle bit of lemon juice depending on the fish. I used to love tuna, but I can't tolerate it anymore. Of course, DH is thrilled since he hates tuna anyway. I have some catfish filets that he's going to grill for me since I will be breading and frying his and DS's. I know, unhealthy, but that's the way to get them to eat it. WIsh I could help, Sheri. My advice is to log on to the net and search for various recpies for it.

I am curious to see how this thread turns out as I am in the same boat.  I pretty much have to GAG fish down.  I will eat tuna on occassion if I'm in the mood.  The way I like it is not healthy.  When I was on soft foods I tolerated it well by mixing it with cottage cheese but the thought of that now...gross!!  I think I was just so glad to be off liquids!!!  lol  If the only food choices in the world were fish I would be thin!!!! lol

I love fish and something we have done for years is a recipe one of my dad's old fishing buddies taught him.  We (WLS people) would have to kinda alter it just a bit due to not needing so much butter. Take several small mouth bass fillets (or chose your fish as you will) 1 package of fresh mushrooms from the grocer 1 large onion cut into about 1/2 inch squares 1 green and 1 red bell pepper cut like the onion 1 medium yellow squash sliced garlic seasoning, salt, pepper, and I like using just a little paprika and cajun seasoning too. Take the fillets and let them cool to outside temp...then break the fish up into smaller bits.  Place the bits and all the ingredients onto a double thick foil base.  Make sure the base has extra room on the sides cause you are going to fold up the sides to create a "pan".  You could use a foil pan if you want but we always just made our own, hehe.  Sprinkle the seasonings over the top of everything then (since we have to alter this part) some light butter or even maybe some spray on butter that is light.  Then create a "lid" with more foil.  Place all this on the grill and cook for about 15 minutes or so...checking to make sure everything is cooking good and cook longer if needed.  This comes out WONDERFUL and the fish just falls apart in your mouth.  Hope you all like it.

I gag on fishy tasting fish...I love all shellfish. But for years I made my children fish and they loved it thinking it was chicken by mixing lemon and soy sauce to about 2/3 to 1/3 lemon ratio and a crushed garlic clove. I threw it all in the pan and just cooked it in the mixture. I probably over cooked it for them but they loved it. There was no fishy taste at all....Years ago my mom used to poach trout in Co using that but with butter too....Taste the soy sauce and lemon mixture so it's not to much of either. Fresh lemon will take away the fishy taste. Lemon pepper seasoning too is great on fish. Talapia, Cod, Orange Roughy and even Flounder are great mild tasting fish. Fresh Tuna and Fresh Salmon have a totally different taste than in the can so don't base all fish on that....though I do like both either way. Old bay sprinkled will give you a nice cajun flavor and paprika will give it a nice color....Still not deep fryinging greatness....but that'll do kinda meal!!
