Not good news

I just received a call from Dr Walton. He does not feel comfortable ordering my factor or doing my surgery until I can be seen by a hematologist. I spoke with a PA and she is going to call me back about scheduling an appointment, but I know there is no way I can get a consult and have the medication here in time for the 7th with the holiday next week.  Brandy just called me as well. She agrees that there is no way to get all this accomplished by the 7th. I am definitely looking at having to reschedule surgery, but when depends on how soon I can be seen by the hematologist. I am so disappointed. I am ready NOW. Nancy

I know exactly how you must feel. However, you have to know that the delay is for your best interest. That's what makes Dr. Walton so special. Remember God doesn't close a door unless he opens a window. It is just going to take you a little more time to get through that window. You will get there. Hang on okay.

Oh Nancy....the time WILL come.  A set back is a set up for a come back!  I'd rather you be safe safe safe....than to be in danger.  Let us know if we can do anything for you.  (((((HUGGS)))))  ~w

I am so sorry.  You know that Dr W would not recommend this if he didn't feel it were totally necessary.  Your life is very important and that is why he has only lost one patient in his time doing these surgeries!!!  He is that thorough.  This to shall pass and you'll be re-scheduled in no time.  Who knows, you might just get in on Monday and all will go through in plenty of time!!!  I'll be praying for you....(((((Debbie)))))

Update -- I was able to speak directly to the hematologist, Dr Comp. He asked when my surgery was scheduled and when I told him he said he would see what he could do and told me to hold on for his secretary to schedule an appointment. She got on the phone and said he worked me in to 8:30 TOMORROW MORNING! I am hoping that once he sees me and gets my history in person he will agree that this really is just a small hurdle that is easily fixed. I do understand that Dr Walton is unfamiliar with this territory. He had spoken with Dr Comp himself but without knowing my history all Dr Comp could tell him was a worst case scenario. I called and let Brandy know. She said she will let me keep my pre-op appointment on Friday but it will be up to Dr Walton whether he will proceed or not. My worst fear is that he will not even agree to reschedule. Nancy

Dr Comp is THE best and so is Dr. Walton.  I know they will make the right decision but bless you heart I understand the emotion of hitting a brick wall.  Dr. Comp doesn't see that many patients since is the prof at OU so he will be able to divert all his attention to you.  My hubby went to him over some issues and he really is good.  I am praying that they will have wisdom to make the very best decision for your health and safety and also praying for you to be a peace with the decision.  hugs.  -Amy

Nancy this is awesome....they at least are getting you in to the hematologist really really fast.  I'm sure that after your visit Dr. Comp will visit with Dr. Walton and all will be good.....  As my Mama always told me....don't borrow trouble or worry over tomorrow!!!  It will be fine, I just know it will.  Hang in there girlfriend - Debbie

I know how you are feeling. I have some delays in progressing also. I know it is so hard because you even had your date! I haven't even gotten that far!! Safety is the first and most important thing. It could be that it will still fall into place. My thinking, for me, is....what are a few more days or weeks or even a month?? Hopefully not that long for you, but for me it could be.... Stay positive! Stay on track! It won't be long.  Sherry

Nancy, I'm hoping that you get your surgery at just the right time that will be safest for you! Even though it might not perfectly match your timing, we want all the ducks to be in a row so that you'll fly right through. I'm keeping you in my prayers for surgery at just the right time and for a wonderful surgery and speedy recovery!
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
