Oooo the WildBerry Passion drink sound yummy.  Can you please tell me where I can purchase it?  That definitely sounds right up my alley.  How much protein are you suppose to get in a day??

Your dietician will probably let you know what your protein goal is when you meet with them. Mine was 85 gms. per day, but got revised after some kidney issues that I have from another illness. My goal is now at 60 gms.

You can buy the SmartForme at their website. Just click on the blue words in my post above. Also, they sell the SmartForme at my surgeon's office. I can pick some up for you if you'd like. I could also let you have a packet to try before you buy, if you'd like. I could mail one to you if you'll PM me your address. : )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Between 60-80 grams but lets all be honest here...it's HARD to get that in, especially early in the post-op life.  You will understand what we mean when we say Sip Sip Sip

I had my surgery with Dr. Gorospe on February 28th  2008.  I also went through UHC for my surgery.  I think it took about 3 weeks after all the paperwork was summitted for me to get the approval letter.  I had my surgery about 4 weeks later.  I could have had it sooner but there are alot of appointments to get in before surgery and I had to work them around having a job.  As for going back to work, I went back 10 days after surgery and I was fine. If you can take 2 weeks, I would just to have the extra rest.  On the protein issue, I only found one that I could do and it was the Banana Scream by Champion.  I just mixed it with water and put it in the freezer to get really cold or put it in long enough to freeze and then ate it like ice cream.  I am 4 months out and I am now able to get my protein all through my food.  I still do a shake every once in awhile if I am really busy and forget to eat or if I try to eat something that doesn't agree with me.  If you need more info, feel free to send me a message.

Michelle, Welcome to Oklahoma OH and your WLS journey. My favorite protein shakes are the ones that I make up myself. I like to use Vanilla whey protein powder,  or chocolate. I then add PB2 which is a powdered peanut butter with 75% less fat, ground flax seed, caramel sf Davinci's syrup, soy milk and ice cubes. I think that it is very yummo. Again, Welcome. Rita

You all have been soooo kind, thank you so much.  I really need to start trying these so I can see which ones I like.  Dr. G as well as 5 friends of mine at AT&T who have used Dr. G for their surgeries over the last 4 years have told me don't buy a lot because your taste will change after surgery.  I remember Dr. G saying that he remembered someone who went out and bought a lot of one type they like really well, then after surgery they couldn't stand it at all.  Funny how the human body is. I also mentioned in a PM to someone how worried I am about my husband.  We have been married just over 2 years and he is extremely jealous and controlling.  To give you an idea I haven't been out with the girls in over 3 years.  You see he only knows me fat and miserable.  I am so afraid he will not come around, and let me live just a little.  I tried to test the waters and mentioned going out to with my friends to lunch and a movie...he had a melt down.  I don't think things will go well....  I am at a loss not knowing what to do next.  I guess I have to remember the only thing I can controll is me.  Well sorry about rambling about this, and thanks again for all the GREAT replies.
