I always ask to order off the senior menu if there is one-I've never had to show the card an I don't think I look 55 but I could be wrong....
Sometimes I just make up what I want and as if they can do that for a decent price-like, at Mimi's I want one crabcake (there are two on the appetizer) and a bowl of soup. As a rule, the nicer the place, the more accomodating they are.
Sushi places are cool because you actually can order bite by bite and the sushi chefs LOOOOOVE peope who chew their food well. I got high marks last time I had sushi from the chef. Watch out for the rice though if you dump-it's soaked in sugar water.
Another thing I do is order a sanwich or tacos and then just eat the meat-it's usually the right amount and it's less expensive than a full on meal.
Mexican resaurants usually have nice shrimp coctails that are full on meals for us. I like little local ones rather than chains.
Or, if your date has had WLS or just eats smaller portions, share a dinner.
