I'm sure there are modified calculations for protein and water for those of us that struggle with obesity. My daily protein goal was originally 85 gms per day as figured by my dietician ... she used a specific formula that included my age, gender, height, age and I'm not sure what else.

Also, we're all told to do 64 ozs. of water per day in our program, so I'm sure that is modified for obese people, too. I don't think any of us could do 2 gallons in a day! ; ) Hyperhydration is not without its own risks.

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I'm a 52.5 yr. old female with chronic illness ... exercising and riding a bike daily! : )

I guess my big ol' behind came in good for something lol • Your waist-to-hip ratio is 0.71 You're a "pear" Congratulations! At this ratio (0.76 and below) you have the lowest risk of heart disease and diabetes.

It's the same on the lap band board-lots of ultra strict people, anti protien powder people and so on and so forth.  Regardless of the type of surgery you have, I really believe that you have to work with your body and your lifestyle.

I've learned to cook because I'm at home a lot now, but on errand day I'm gonna eat protein bars, almonds (((((fast food (taco bell beans, a chicken leg, starbucks latte).  In other words, I know what to order when I'm out, because being at home for 3 meals every day of my life isn't going to happen.  Now, a handful of almonds can tide me over till I get home, but you know what, sometimes I just WANT taco bell.

For me, dropping below 1000 calories is never a good idea for more than a few days at a time...first I start losing energy, stop moving, then gobble up carbs.  When I was too tight I was struggling to get in 800 calories a day, and I just didn't feel good.

Another thing I think people forget is that as your activity increases, your caloric needs increase.  A very active lady I know went on a medically supervised plan and lost 75 pounds eating over 2000 calories a day....but none of it was junk.

I've seriously thought about taking the trailer to the lake for the month of August-I'd lose a butt load of weight swimming every day-but I wouldn't learn anything about what it would take to maintain that weight living my normal daily life.  I think the lessons we learn are as important as the weight we lose-it's the lessons that will keep the weight off.
