An update on my post op-ness
Darn on the tomato soup but I was about 75% sure that the answer was a no. What confused me is that when Jess came to visit me while I was in the hospital she said that I could strain soups for the liquid phase but she didn't really give me a list of soups. I did however get a list of drinks and protein drinks I could have.
Ella:
Tomato soup is pretty acidic. You don't want to do anything right now that has acids in it because it can really do a number on your new pouch and the staple lines. Keep to clear soups and strain them out. Hence the beef and chicken stock permissions. You could do vegetable stock but I think there is very little protein in it so it would be last resort.
I lived on SF popsicles and chicken stock. But then don't judge things by me!! LOL It is basically what can you deal with and have the taste for!
If you start to feel a little weird definitely do the protein drinks. Just remember anything over about 25g of protein in a serving doesn't absorb - so if you have something that says more it is a waste. If you can't do a whole one split it up to 2 servings. Chances are right now you don't have room in your new pouch for a whole serving anyway.
Hang in there!!
