Thought I was closer.....Heart Cath

I think I spoke too soon. Cardiologist called at 4:30 saying they found a discolored area so Tues. I go for a heart cath. My brother had 3 stents in January so the way my luck is going I'll probably need one too. Anyone if that will affect me having surgery late next month? Any advice and input welcome. Thanks, Cindy

I just had the exact same scare!!  Cadiologist called me on Monday and I had my heart cath yesterday.  It was a false alarm for me.  I posted on the Oklahoma board about it and at least 4 other girls reported having the same thing happen.  One of them told me that overweight people frequently get abnormal results with their stress tests.  I pray that your results are the same as mine.  One girl did have to have stents but was told in a few months if she could pass the stress test that she could get her sleeve.  Hopefully others will post and make you feel better.

Ah Cindy-that sucks.  Can they put the stent in via catheter?  It's good to get all this worked out before surgery-and losing weight can prevent and help reverse damage.  At least a problem you know about can be addressed.

My only advice is take one thing at a time.  Getting any potential problems fixed prior to surgery is the whole purpose of all the testing, so let's all be glad that they do it.

OK duh...just realized this IS on the oklahoma board! LOL.  I thought I was reading this on the main board.  Look through the posts and see all the responses to mine, I promise it will encourage you.  Worse case scenerio, they will stent you and you can still get your sleeve it might just be delayed a bit for you to be healthy.  I am praying for you as this is near and dear to my heart (no pun intended!)

Cindy, bless your heart. I'm so sorry you need to have a heart cath, but I'm thankful that they are checking your heart out and that they want to make sure your heart is healthy.

I will be keeping you in my prayers for an excellent result from your heart cath. Please keep us posted.

I'm sue every thing will be just fine.  They just are so cautious and we want them to be!  I know that you will get your procedure soon.  I just read your profile and I had many of the same comorbities that you have.  I have not taken any insulin since my surgery date of March 12th and my last A1C was 5.4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Amazing.  I have decreased my blood pressure medicine and will most likely go off real soon.  I am off my antidepressant among others.  It's an amazing tool I have.  I had the lap RNY.  Looking forward to chatting with you.  (I'm 54) I'll be praying for you that your procedure will be just that...checking things out and all will be well....Debbie
