Cheryl, You haven't lived until you have had them at least once. What everone said pretty much explains it. It happened to me quite a bit when I was first out, but not in a few months now. Rita

Glitter has sadly only lost 11 pounds since surgery!    It was fun to weigh those first 2 weeks.  But like everyone else, I hit the stall when I started mushies.  Oh well!  My body will have to catch up some time!  I'm going to pound it in to submission!

Have any of you ever felt nauseated and felt like you couldn't stay awake?  A couple of times with things that most likely had too much fat or sugar I felt a little sick and then was so tired I had to sleep...there was no way to stay awake and walk it off and after a nap I was fine...no vomiting...weird.  I have vomited and trust me I won't even look at the offending food....jerky and turkey!!!  I don't care how much I chew it...it comes up!!!

Dianna, That is one of your classic signs of dumping. Just your pouch's way of saying whoa, "you have just given me too much sugar and/or fat". Not a alot of fun, but makes you think twice before you do it again.

Fortunately,I have avoided dumping from sugar. I tend to dump on fat, particularly on meats. After the worst hurling of my life a month ago, I now eat Morning Star Farms prime Veggie Burgers instead of regular HB  patties since they have too much concentrated grease. Regular HB, no problem since I buy the 93/7 from Wal-Mart. Last night was a painful episode. I know that when a food is instant pain that it's not going to stay in my stomach long. No more Scwhan's sliced ham in the crockpot for me! Too much fat even AFTER I pulled all the fat off. 3 hours later is when I got sick. Usually, I can avoid it most of the time since I avoid all sugar like the plague and TRY to avoid the animal fats. I keep the sugar grams in the range Jess said to, and I've been fine. Last night, DH got a great bonus check, so we went out and bought a mondo new Brinkman grill. HE'S cooking tonight!!

Bandsters aren't supposed to dump-but high fat/high sugar things (like premium ice cream) will do it for me....and reading your post, I realize I'm almost phobic about animal fat now because when it's bad, it's really really bad.  I love latte's, but whole milk is a problem food for me too-skim, no problem, so I assume it's the fat and not the sugar in the milk.

I just realized I never eat butter any more either.

I recall one hypothesis that said even though there was no rerouting-banding does interfere with digestion because the food sits up high (out of the acids) then goes in and through quickly.

Oh, and I'm not diabetic and I don't have a gall bladder, so it's not that.

Thanks Ya'll for the excellent education. Now I will know exactly what is going on if I ever have "foamies" after my surgery.  ((((GIANT HUG))) Cheryl
