Trust me. You won't like them. When the foamie**** it's extra saliva in your mouth like nothing you've experienced. It's usually followed by . Sorry to be so graphic, but I'm familiar with them myself. I don't get them much anymore.

Yeah I have gotten BOTH of the above more than once, and they both SUCK bad.  I haven't gotten the foamies in about a month or so but I dumped BAD the other day from eating some Chinese food.  I tried to be careful about the items I picked out too, and didn't eat very much.  But apparently the sauces had too much of THE BAD STUFF in them and by the time i got back home, only 1/4 of a mile away, I was throwing up in the parking lot.  I hurt the rest of the night and had to eat mushies for dinner just to be able to keep it down.

Dan pretty much nailed it.  On the lap band forum we also call it sliming....sometimes it's slime, sometimes it's mad dog foam.  If it happens, it really does seem to help to NOT get upset about it, stay calm, walk around a bit.  For me, going to have a lie down is never a good idea, let gravity and movement move what you can down-cause the other way out is up.  Drinking when foaming is never a good idea-it usually just makes things worse.

A minor episode can be discretely handled with a napkin at the table.  A major one requires a graceful exit to the nearest loo or trash can....you will have no trouble telling the difference.

Life is pretty much what you make it-I just looked at it s part of the learning process.  For me, dealing with people's reactions to it was more difficult than the actual physical thing.  WLS of any type means that people will want to offer their opinions on the topic, usually after you've just had to dash to the loo.

I am glad you said that about NOT drinking. That is usually the first thing I would do. OK ... making notes to self. 1. eat small bites and chew the h**l out of it 2. avoid the no no food 3. walk it off if it happens 4. don't drink if it happens 5. don't lie down Thanks so much for educating me.  BIG HUG
