Exercise, Scale, Calories, Motivation and Patience! ; )

Did anybody else ride their bike last night? Oh my, it was absolutely PERFECT weather for biking ... cool and NO WIND! It was my very first windless bike ride. : ) Oh, it was heavenly! Hubby and I rode just over 9 miles!!! My personal best, so far. (It was also after I had done the one mile workout from Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds dvd.) And, it was SO MUCH easier than riding just 3 or 4 miles days before in that horrible wind. ; ) We had to stop because it was just getting too dark to keep going. I hope everyone got to be out last night because we don't often have evenings like that in Oklahoma.

Today, the scale moved!!! I'm finally 201! My 9 day stall (that followed my previous long stall) is finally gone ... and I hope I don't stall again for a long time.

For me, my biggest chore is getting in enough calories not to go into starvation mode and trigger my metabolism (what is left of it!) to come to a screeching halt. I've found that I really need to drink quite a bit of my calories, or I'm just not going to get them in ... just no room in my tummy and NO hunger about 99% of the time. I take a Chike and add 1 cup of Braum's Fat Free Milk. Braum's Skim milk has 13 grams of protein per cup (at least 4 more grams than other brands of milk), plus an additional 40 calories per cup more than other brands. By adding the Braum's milk to my Chike, I get in ***40*** grams of protein in one Chike, plus 300 calories. I add crushed ice and I'm good to go ... having made a big dent in my protein goal and upped my lagging caloric intake! : ) Oh, Braum's milk is also hormone free!

To keep my motivation up, I'm reading the book *YOU On A Diet* by Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen. It's a really easy and motivational read that's packed with excellent scientific data in an understandable format and it's sprinkled with uplifting humor ... and they are very supportive of WLS! If anyone wants to do a read-along with this book, I'm game!

It seems this, too, is teaching me patience. As much as I want to be a rapid loser, it seems patience is in order and I may need some divine intervention in this department. ; ) In the meantime, I'm setting daily fitness and dietary goals, tracking/journaling just about everything, and enjoying this journey as much as possible. Being patient and staying motivated at the same time is not easy for me.

Good Luck to Everyone!

Shelly

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Great motivational speech Shelly!  YOU on a Diet was instrumental in my finally having WLS, because it presented it in such a matter of fact way, not a miracle, not a cop out, just another way to deal with the problem.

I also like the new one, YOU staying young.....LOL, I'm a big Oz fan.

I'm getting the *You Staying Young* book next ... if it's not too late already! : ) I'm an OZ fan, too. I always watch his specials and I got the *You On A Diet Workout* dvd. I'm still working on mastering the beginner level. ; )

Ok, this is about 3rd or 4th time now I've heard someone mention the book YOU on a Diet... now I need to go out and get it.  I didn't ride a bike last night, but I went for a walk this morning around the neighborhood here on base.  It was nice and peaceful.  Hope you all have a wonderful night!
