Even though I do not post often, I read about everyone else daily!! (GLITTERGAL, you make me smile even when I'm having a bad day!) I finally have all my pre-op appointments finished and have a surgery consult on July 23. I was hoping for sooner, but I have to have an open hysterectomy on June 30 so that will slow things down for me, but hopefully not to much!  I would also like to congratulate all of you on your outstanding weight loss! It is so inspiring for us pre-ops!

Congrats on making such a wonderful decision to change your life!  I am so sorry that you are going to have to have OPEN hysterectomy!  That's kinda crummy!  Well, not kinda crummy it's downright crappy!  But this too shall pass.  It will make your wls seem like a walk in the park!  Oops!  Now I'm probably scaring you!  I had an open abdominal procedure years ago and it wasn't that bad.  They give you super great drugs for that one! Keep hanging out on this board and we will help you, support you and answer questions.  Some answers may even be correct!  Ha! Anyway, welcome!  We are happy to have you! Kim PS  Go Pokes!

Is it the bikini cut hysterectomy?  I had that done 12 years ago...the most wonderful change in my life...even WLS and losing over 90 pounds is not as wonderful as having that hysterectomy was..but it is VERY close!!   I had severe problems (endometriosis & 19 day long periods) and it was ruining my life.  You will be a new woman in a year when you have had both of these procedures!  You will feel SO alive again!!  My recovery wasn't too bad after the hysterectomy.  It's kind of like having a baby and getting your tubes tied...just a little rougher.  Just take care of yourself and rest.  We actually moved 2 weeks after my hysterectomy and I wasn't allowed to pack/unpack/lift/move.  I got to sit and give orders.  That sure was a nice move!  lol  Good luck!!!

Yes, it will be the bikini cut. They are going to go in my c-section scar. I am excited. That may sound crazy to some, but I bled a solid 6 out of 12 months last year, and have bled for the last 3 months continuously, so I am ready to be done!  Your right, I will be a new girl! No periods and thin, what more could you ask for. Very good timing on your move! That's the kind of moving I like to do, sit and give orders!!

Been there, done that!! I have no idea how old you are, Cause you look young) but have them tie up your bladder while they are in there! Have them do a sling and it will last along time...the reg tie ups don't last! Man I had them fix everything they could while having me open!! I nearly died I was bleeding so much. It is so hard on your body!  Congrats on getting the overhaul on your body done! It will be so worth it!    Sherry

Shelly - your bleeding story sounds soooo much like my own!! UGGHHH!!  I was never SOOOOO Freakin' happy to have a surgery!!!  I didn't have a former incision to go through, but it was still well worth the bikini cut they gave me!  And now I am THIN and no periods!!  WOOHOO!! I had mine about 4 years ago now and it is the 2nd best thing I have ever done for my health!  The 1st is obviously my RnY two years ago!!  WOW - We get to celebrate my surgiversary!!!  YIPPEE!!! Anyway - enjoy it and get ready for huge life changes!!!   Welcome to the group too!!

Hi Shelly,  Congrats on getting your surgery consult... July 23 really isn't that far away.  I will be having a hysterectomy later this year after this pregnancy is over so you'll have to tell me more on how it is... I don't know exactly what kind yet, but I know I won't miss periods and the pain they've caused me for years lol.  You're going to do great though with your hysterectomy and your WLS.... everything is going to work out for you and we're all here for you!  Good luck, girl!!

Shelley, congrats on your consult appt.  Hope you get scheduled quickly.  I wish you the best with your hysterectomy as well.  I'll be having that later this year too.  Just found out that my 2nd sister has cervical cancer...too many immediate siblings for me...so we'll just get rid of it! Good luch & best wishes for a speedy recovery.  Wendy

Congrats on that. Too bad they can't do both at once since you'll already be open. Seriously, though, good luck. I had my hysterectomy in 2004 and it was lap. My tubal was a bikinit cut. You will truly feel like a new woman. I should've done my hysterectomy waaaaaay sooner.

Shelly, It will be like having a c-section all over again probably. I've never had a c-section but I have had the hysterectomy twice, well actually three times. I know, wierd but a long story. Anyway best of luck to you. I hope you have a speedy recovery. It will be so worth it once it's over. Then you can move on to even better things.(((((HUGS)))))
