Hi everyone

I've been out of the loop for awhile but will try to check in more often.  I go for my 2nd fill tomorrow and I feel like my weight is up since last month.  Last month when i got my first fill , I also got a horrible stomach virus and lost 14 pounds in one week.  I felt horrible.  Well, as soon as I could hold food and water the weight came back and since them I haven't been able to get into the groove again.  I feel like I'm floundering.  I need to get back to the basics and get my head back into it and get this weight off.  I feel like I'm so far behind of where I think I should be by now - three months out.  I need to remember my band rules of eating slowly, not drinking, major on protein, etc. I'm looking forward to the fill but not the weigh in.  I'm hoping I will be at a good restriction point and will have to do liquids for a day or two and then mushies for a day or two and then move into solids again.  I'm hoping my doing this it will also jump start me.  I also need to get back to exercising like I was in the beginning.  HELP!!!  I need a big kick in the rear asap.  Thanks.

I have been wondering where you were!  I'm so sorry to hear that you have been struggling.  I don't think WLS takes away our struggle with food completely.  I think it is a tool and sometimes we just don't feel like working our tool.  You are not going to get a kick in the rear from me!  You are too nice for me to kick!!  I hit a stall and I have been increasing my liquids and actually really started exercising and even though it's great to feel like you are doing the right things...the stall is still hanging on...  I try not to focus on it...I try to focus on the victories I have had thus far rather than this current "defeat."  I know you are a woman of faith..do you ever think about why God's mercies are new EVERY MORNING???  Because we need mercy EVERY DAY!  So, quick...give yourself some mercy and start over anew today.  Every day is another chance to have a new start!  (I tell myself these same things...I hope it helps you!)  I'm so glad you are back!!!

WHACK!  Ok, there's your kick in the behind!  Now we can get on with the support.  Don't forget that this is a marathon and not a sprint.  You WILL get there.  It just takes some patience on our parts.  (something I'm not great at!)  It took me a long time to gain all this weight and it will take me some time to get it off! Hang in there!  Don't dread the scales. Dr. B will give you great advice either way! Keep us posted and good luck!  You can do this! Kim

We have 3 walking groups that meet on Saturday morning.  One meets in Edmond, one southside, and one in Midwest City.  Matybe you could join one of the groups. Hopefully Dr. B will hit your sweet spot this time.  Hang  in there!

Please don't be down on yourself for not being totally focused. We all have strong and weak times ... it's completely normal! When you get to your sweet spot on restriction, I'm sure you're going to do great and your band will really be working for you then.

I was reading a book this evening (*You On A Diet*) that was discussing the importance of having a back up plan when we mess up on our plan ... just like we carry a spare tire in our car, or back up our computer, we should keep a back up plan for our weight loss and exercise when we get distracted. It happens to all of us and if we have a back up plan, we just resort to it and get back on track. No feeling guilty or feeling defeated at all is needed.

You're normal and we're normal, too. We'll help each other through our rough times and keep those back up plans ready to spring into action. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Wy, It's okay you are human. We all go through these times. Unfortunately WLS doesn't fix our brain. We still have that same relationship with food from time to time. Get your fill tomorrow and then find something new to do with your hands, brain and mouth. Come to the boards and more importantly the support groups if you can. It's all going to work out. Hang in there. (((((HUGS))))), Rita

Hang in there Wy.  I have news for you.    YOU ARE COMPELTELY NORMAL!!!  Just get back on the horse and ride, ride, ride...  Our brains are very complex organs and I don't think we ever completely figure them out...I struggle also with that 'last bite'.  Hope your fill goes well and you find that place of peace in your heart and mind.  Drink your fluids and do a little exercise.  Denise mentioned the walking groups.  They're wonderful and really help to keep you on track.  Don't beat yourself up, just get back on track.  We're all here for you.  Wendy

Thanks everyone for your kick, positive comments, and advice.  I received my 2nd fill today without any problems.  I'm now at 4.5cc in my band.  Dr. B was very positive when I told him I was disappointed in my weight gain over the last month.  He said that I've only had two fills and nowhere near my "sweet" spot.  That I have lost a lot of weight and to not become discouraged and to only weigh once a week.  I also had my 3 month visit with Dr. Keller today and it went well also.  So far today I have walked some and had a protein drink that took forever to drink.  I can definitely feel some restriction today.  Love to you all and thanks for you support.
