Barter thread or eBay local without the money

When we first started talking about this last week I sent off an email to Dr. Keller but I still have not gotten a response on it.  Sorry - I have been a little remiss in following up with him! We can set things up on our own if you want to, but I really wanted their input since I would really like it to be "WeightWise" sponsored.  I'll fire off another email to Jim later this afternoon with a possible "template" of information as a basis for the exchange. Does anyone have a suggestion for where we want to donate the left over clothes to?  That way they don't have to be stored but can go to others who can use them. Thanks.

I would suggest we donate to the Hope Center in Edmond.  That's just one idea but they support residents in Edmond who are in need. Or is there a battered womens shelter somewhere?  Or how about one of those places that give clothes to women who are trying to rejoin the work force?

Ruth, do we really need a template?  How about just labeling the tables with sizes and letting folks put their clothes down on those tables.  Then the fun can begin- sorting for treasure!!!  Everyone will just need to know that anything not selected WILL go to charity!  We had several folks willing to organize things.  I can go early and help set up. Hey, men need to come too.  You guys will need smaller clothes also!  Could we set tables up for the guys in the reception area so the women won't trample them?

I think "long term" we will need a sort of operating template - but no - we can start without one.  I just don't know what WW would expect with use of the facility to hold it.  I know they have been doing seminars every Saturday of the Month so the option there would be to use it after about 1:00 pm on a Saturday.   I am getting ready to put together an email to Jim and I will suggest that, as well as how we can get on schedule, who to book the room with, yada yada.... Patsy is almost always in and out of there every day of the week, but I also don't want to make her job harder either.  It is going to be at FBH/WW discretion as to booking the room and any appropriate permissions to be there, so I just don't want to step on any toes. If we wanted to do it elsewhere, then no issue, but .....

Great idea Denise about meeting after the seminar, since there are a lot of people attending that have not had surgery and may be in need of larger clothes. I have four bags of size 26/28 and more to join those, that I have not sorted through yet. I will not be around the week-end of the 28th of June, but other than that, I am there - wherever we decide to have this. - Anna

OK, I love this thread already!!! I'm getting dangerously free living in some of my clothes already, but since all I'm wearing is sweatpants, that's not too big of a deal. Give me a few months and I will totally be in on this. If there are any other 5'2" girls out there that will wear 18/20s I have your clothes, I'm just using them at the moment. I've got two closets full of clothes, not to mention my shoes and what's in my hamper lol.  I would love for this to be a Weight Wise sponsored thing, and the clothes that noone wants or needs we can give to the GoodWill or to the Salvation Army, that's who took all my other clothes that I had grown out of.

Hey, I am a 5'2" 18/20!  I love the idea of trading out.  Women have been doing it all over the nation at home get togethers.  I would love for this to be a Weight Wise thing.  That being said I want all surgeon's patients to feel free to come up and participate!

Why couldn't we just set up in the parking lot at WeightWise?  We could use tables to spread out on.

OK, I'll be the designated whine bag about outside.  Too hot and the clothes would blow off the tables.  OK, whining done!  I am good now!

I think this is a great idea.  I am just ready to get into some size 20/22's...I'm excited though because I started out at a 34!!  If nothing else will work we might be able to even set up at a pavillion at one of the parks on a Saturday morning sometime...just a thought.  I would love to have a T-shirt about putting on the "Big-Girl Panties"!!!  Debbie

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!
