OK it is time to vent.

You are in my prayers.
Now-the do not eat list should be followed exactly until healing is done. You could hurt yourself with a stuck episode (most of the things you listed are things that get stuck in the stoma). After healing, it is a bit of trial and error-depending on how your body reacts to it.
As a rule, I don't eat rice, it's iffy for me. But when eating sushi, I want a bit of sticky rice, so I take it very slowly and carefully. Under normal cir****tances, I wouldn't want to take the time I have to do in order to eat the rice, so I just don't.
One of the biggest shocks of my life was how MUCH food was involved in every aspect of my life-and wow the emotions that set into play. I won't say it's easy to get beyond it, but many people, including myself do. But, the mountain always looks bigger at the bottom and smaller from the top-so I understand your fears.
One of the things you will find is post surgery it IS possible to sit in a room full of people who are eating cake and not really have any desire for it. Truly. Your smaller stomach is going to make eating when you aren't really hungry something you won't want to do. You will savor what you DO eat-the enjoyment won't go away, it just won't take as much to make you happy.
Heather, when I get home I can send you a word document copy of a huge group of Weigh****cher's recipes .... many for cooking in the crock pot. (I'll send them to anyone that sends me their email address!) Most all include all the nutritional information, too. Yes, our long term diet is to stay away from rice, white bread, pasta and white carbs. Although, we are allowed healthy/complex carbs without limitations .... vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Well, there are portion size limitations, but you know what I mean.
Whole wheat Ritz crackers (5 = one serving) are great when you're past the pureed food phase....with a little Laughing Cow cheese wedge ..... 105 calories and not bad at all ...also has protein. : ) Maybe try some whole wheat Ritz with Laughing Cow light cheese spread ... it really might fill the craving for some popcorn and be a healthier choice. It's one of my favorite protein choices and when I need to up my caloric intake a little.
PM me your email addy and if you'd like, I'll send the Weigh****cher's recipes when I get home. We've just finished biking and hubby is tinkering on our bikes .... so I'm watching TV with our daughter now. Should be home in the next hour, I hope!
I've also got you in my prayers!!!

Wah-food porn-are you talking about those onion burgers? I could still eat one, just not the bun. I really and truly don't miss the plain jane buns and if it's a really good bun, I eat a bit of the crusty part-which is the part I like anyway.
Fries just don't work, but after one or two times of them not working, I don't even want them. It really is a type of aversion therapy.
I even make lasagna without the noodle part when I'm home (just pick it out when I'm out) and it is still good good good....
