Jet Ski anyone?

Does anyone want to meet at the lake for an hour or two of Jet Sking?  (I don't have one, just going to rent one to see if I want one).

I can hit any lake in Oklahoma next Saturday or Sunday.....

AND before you start-you can wear shorts if you want to-so no "wait until I'm thinner" BS.......after riding the waves you'll have burned up a lot of calories and a jet ski isn't ALIVE so it isn't cruel.

Come ON people-let's get out there and start walkin the walk.

What's to fear?  You control the speed, and as long as you don't go too fast the water is soft and the life jacket keeps you afloat.  The only thing you have to remember is boats don't have brakes.

Wow ... I would love to join you. My problem is that if I'm out very long in the sun, I get all sick from this stupid lupus. Maybe if we went in the evening??? ; )

BTW, I've been looking up biking clubs and Norman has the Bicycle League of Norman. I thought hubby and I might be able to join in a slow group....but shoot, the slow group goes 12 - 14 mph!!! They also go for miles and miles and miles!!! They'd leave me in the dust! So, last evening, I concentrated on increasing my speed over 4 miles ... rather than increasing my distance. I may never make it to their slow group, but I'm gonna give it the 52 year old, determined woman try! Most of our ride I could keep my speed at 9 - 10 mph, but surely not the entire time. I'll try to go again tonight and do better.

What type of bike training program are you following?

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Let me know if you find a girl friendly middle age friendly bike club here in Oklahoma.  Most of what I've looked in to are heavier on the guy side....and with their muscles they can just outride the average woman.

I've just been following the ride when I can program, but I'd be glad to meet up on a regular basis with someone for a more structured training program.  Now you've seen me and can vouch for me, I'm really NOT in shape-I just want to be so I'm trying to get out as much as possible.

On the weekends, mornings would work better, weekdays, evenings after 6 (Just because of th heat).  That can work even in the fall winter with nightlights, but I wouldn't ride at night in anything other than a group of three or more.  Even the safest bike trail is spooky as heck after dark.

I'll check with Thunderbird, I bet the let you keep them out till dusk or so-if that is the case, that would suit me too.  Since I've never ridden on, I can't say, but for a first time I'm betting an hour will do it for both of us....LOL.

They have a great mountain biking trail at Clear Bay at Lake Thunderbird. If you ride the whole trail once, it's 11 miles. However, there are parts that I wouldn't dare trying! ; )

If we ride to get in better biker shape, hubby would accompany us, to that's at least 3! There's also trails at Draper that our son-in-law rides at least weekly.

I did meet a lady at the local yarn shop and she and her daughter ride with her husband in the Norman Bike Club (not sure if it's the same one as above). She says it can be done by women pretty easily. However, she was probably 1/2 my age and size!!! ; ) If I run into her again, I'll ask more in depth questions since I have a better idea about what to ask now.

Oh, and on THIS PAGE on the Oklahoma Bicycle Society page .... the HILLY RIDE that they mention is all around where we live! No wonder I don't ride around home. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
