I would love to hear from everyone that is doing the pre-op diet thing.  Let us know how much you have to lose and what kind of plan you are doing to lose it.  Misery loves company so lets share!  I'll go first.  I have my pre-op appt for June 24th (get to meet cowboy at my appt!) and then IF I have lost these last remaining 3 lbs I will go on for surgery on July 2nd.  What I am doing to lose weight is tracking every bite on mydailyplate.com. staying under 1,600 calories.  I am trying to make healthy choices, lean meat and no bread, chips, rice, pasta type carbs.  However, tonight will be a bit of a challenge as I will eating out at Mickey Mantles!(yum and $$)  If I still haven't lost these last few lbs by next Wednesday then I am going to go on liquids.  Okay, y'alls turn.....Robin?  Cowboy?  come on and let's encourage everyone who is pre-op.  -Amy

Amy I will be at the WW office at 2:30 on the 24th, for my consult. What time will you be there? Maybe I will see you there! I can't do the pre-op until I pass a few tests for my heart and find out what they are going to do about the apnea. Sherry

Hey Sherry!  I will miss you cuz my appt is at 9:30.  I was in Bethany just this morning.  My son plays baseball with Bethany 1st church Naz over there behind the Bethany firestation.  But, it was so muddy from the rain they couldn't play.  I bet you get past these test really quick and will be on track for surgery before you know it.  Just concentrate on losing the pre-op weight while they are getting your apnea and heart stuff figured out.  I had a nucular (sp??) stress test on Friday and have to go back Monday morning for more pictures just to be sure everything is fine with my heart too.  I have been having what I think must be anxiety attacks and it freaked me out thinking it was my heart.   Is this your first appt at WW?

I can't remember if my appt is 9:30 or 10:00 now that I think about it.  I have it on my outlook at work.  I think maybe 10:00.  I will look for you though while I am there.  I will either be the hysterical crying woman or the hyseterical happy women, depending on the scales! LOL!!  This is my pre-op so I have to make goal.

Ummm....ok...you guys aren't gonna like me beacuse I lost all my pre-op wieght quick and i've been indulging in tons of really bad FOOD PORN.....I mean the worst!  Tonight i had a small filet of Kobe beef cooked in butter....( I KNOW, I KNOW...don't flame me...damn u...lol)  I had golden fingerling potatoes and a little saucer o beef reduction (to dip my potatoes in)....ummm  for dessert, um...I can't tell you becasue I'm sure that Id get a beating when I stepped of the plane. I got some stuff from one of the gals from Weightwise BUT it doesn't say much about what I'm supposed to be eating except DON'T EAT for like 24 hours before the surgery....  can anyone else verify that this is what I'm supposed to be doing???  (I've been torturing myself with swimming and runs though.... So SOMEBODY TELL COWBOY what I should be eating before my operation....lol... T.

First of all, Cowboy...don't gain ANY of your weight back before you get here!!! HUGE no no! Second of all, just eat healthy. That's what I did. I chose to make good decisions prior to, even though I wanted to go have one of everything that I love before the big day just so I could remember what it all tastes like! lol I did the agressive diet that included a lot of supplements. That's not mandatory, but kind of just what fit for me. If it fits you better to have 6 small WELL-BALANCED...LOW CARB meals a day, that's the way I would go if I were you. You've got to start training your brain to think like someone who doesn't live to eat, but eats to live. I know...hard concept to grasp, but it's true. You'll see after surgery. ;) As for the not eating for 24 hours before, you can have clear liquids...and that's it. Broth, water, sugar-free popsicles, jell-o...nothing red or purple (of course...the best flavors of popsicles!). You'll be so pumped about your surgery, the all liquids the day before won't really be a big deal. I did liquids for 2 days just to make sure I had remained at my goal before surgery. I wish you ALL the best and know that I'm thinking about ya and praying for ya! You'll do great!!! I just know it! Liz

That is just not right!  You have ALREADY lost your pre-op weight!  Umph!  Okay, well, I guess that is great news and I am happy for you...well sorta...LOL...anyway, whatever you do, do NOT gain any weight before you go.  Seriously, resist the urge for last minute blow out meals because they have turned away people the day of surgury for gaining even just a few pounds.  I haven't read the other replys yet and I am sure they will be more knowledgable on this, but I believe you should begin now cutting out the carbs related to bread, rice, pasta, chips, etc.  Plus cut out the fatty food.  Doing this helps shrink your liver during the next week and helps prevent your liver being nicked during surgery (did you read Lisa's story on the main board a few months ago?).  Anyway, just be good...at least with the food.

Thomas, The day before surgery clear liquids only. Chicken, beef broth, propel, crystal ligh****er and as Liz said nothing red or purple. Sugar free pop sickles are good(minus red or purple of coarse). FYI, if you gain weight Dr. Broussard will cancel your surgery. I have seen this happen several times. Just a little tid bit there. See ya soon, Rita
