Just a reminder that we have a Southside Walking Group that meets on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at Earlywine Park at SW 119th and May.  We meet in the parking lot by the tennis courts.  There are 3 of us right now and we would love to have more walkers join us.  We are taking it pretty easy at first so now is the time to start!!

Do you know if bicicyles are allowed on the trail-the web right up says they are putting in a multipurpose trail, I drove by and it looks like its there, but I didn't see any bikes.

The new park at SW119 and Meridian also excludes bikes.  I hate that we don't have a great place to bike in safety.  My hubby suggested I go to a very large cemetary......eeeekk!  That's kind of awkward!  I'd love it if they put a bike path around a lake or some wonderful scenery.  Oh, and my neighbors surely think I'm whacked....my favorite thing to do while biking is to ride on the sidewalk in front of their sprinklers so I can cool down!!!  If I don't get wet enough I will turn around and go through again!  That's one good thing about riding in the neighborhood!!

The River trail is fabulous, but I wouldn't go on it alone-I have-but I keep my eyes open and have only ridden from Meridian to the Dell Service Center.  At least in that stretch there are no underpasses or bushes to hide creepos, but there is also nobody around, so you would just have to ride around (or over) someone who might give you trouble.

The trail along Grand (SW 36) has a lot of cross streets but Grand is a busy enough street that it seems fairly safe during daylight hours.

Woodson Park on SW 29 and May allows bikes and allegedly hooks up to the River Trail, but the trail disappears kind of behind the highway in a not so nice part of town so I've never gone down it.

As a general rule, if you can be seen from the road, you are safe...but underpasses can hide nasty folks.  I've never had any problem, here or in Dallas but i've also never stopped in an underpass either.

Hubby took me to the Sam Noble Oklahoma Natural History Museum today to see Supercroc and some other new additions to the museum displays. It was great! While we were there, there's a very wide sidewalk that goes around the area for several miles. I'm going to ask if that area is open to bikers. It would be great to bike around the museum, University golf course, softball stadium, and other sites in the area. When I find anything out, I'll let everyone know. Norman is a pretty bike friendly town ... especially with all the college kids and their bikes everywhere! : )

That would be a great outing-bike a bit and visit the Sam Noble.

Sam Noble also has loads of permanent bike racks where you can lock up your bike while visiting the museum! : )
