Three girls I work with have just completed a 5 month diet "contest".  Between the 3 of them, the winnings were a total of $170.00 so not too bad.  Results: Third Place - gained 1 pound Second Place - lost 3.8 pounds First Place - lost 11.6  (she has the most to lose) All of  this over a 5 MONTH long period!  I'm so happy I have a sleeve!!!

Uh, we kicked their butts while on the agressive diet plan!  You should have been the winner!  Those statistics are horrible!  They must have been playing aroudn with it.  I bet they gain it all back in short order also.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

That proves to me that I can't do it on my own no matter what....not that 20 years hasn't been a long enough test period!!!  I am gaining mental strength every day to say yes to this whole process!  I'm happy you got a sleeve too. Now I am sure I will be happy with one also!! Thanks for thëse "contest"results! I loved it!    Sherry

Well, it sure wouldn't be bad if we each got $170 for each 11.6 lbs. we lose! ; )

They must have not been very serious about this ... so I guess money wasn't much of a motivator to change lifestyle habits. Why does that Not surprise me? Money can't buy off grehlin's dirty work! ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I remember doing that back in the office days.  I'm very competitive, so I usually did well, and it usually didn't last....ok it never lasted.

With a little time to think about it, I realize now it's those "contests" that encourage people to talk and comment about weight.  I think the public failure thing is the motivation, but that's not how I choose to motivate myself now....I want health and fitness.  Ok, nice legs and a hot A$$ too, but mostly I want health and fitness...LOL.

Hoodoo - I can't figure out how to PM you but I have a question.  I want to buy a bicycle but it is SO confusing.  And I don't really want to spend a mint in case I don't end up using it as much as I think I will.  (I know - bad attitude!)  Can you tell me a specific bike that would be good for a beginner?  I've seen some nice Schwinns on the K-Mart website.  Any suggestions?

On the Kmart sight I'd get the Sante Fe Ladies Cruiser for 109 bucks.

If the biking bug takes you, the cruiser will become an old friend, but you'll want something else to ride.  If the bug doesn't take you, the cruiser will last a long time.....

The step through design is both cool retro looking (for awhile bikes were unisex) but more importantly, a cruiser sits lower-and you will feel more secure.  The step through is also easier to get on-you don't have to swing your leg over, which can be awkward at first.  Unless you are really good with mechanics, pay to have it put together.  It's a safety thing-it's just better to have brakes that work, etc.

If you want to go pick one up from somewhere, I have a bike rack and would be happy to come get you and your bike.  I can change seats out, etc, but have never put a whole bike together so I can't help much there.

Thanks Hoodoo!  I'm be looking in to this!  And what a generous offer to pick it up!  I have a Highlander so I think it will fit fine.  Thanks again!
