Helllloooooooo Oklahoma!  My name is Janice, and I have a couple of questions, if y'all would be so kind... My DH was just offered a job in Weatherford with AT&T, and has 24 hours to accept or decline the position.  Nice of the company to give us so much time to make a life altering decision, eh?  lol  Anywho, does anyone know about the school systems in Weatherford?  Nice areas to live in?  Cost of living?  Anything???  What about surrounding townships?  We considered OKC, but his job stipulates he needs to be within a 45 min drive from Weatherford for emergency call out purposes.. Thanks! Janice

Hi Janice and Welcome! I don't know that much about Weatherford personally, but the people I know that have lived there really liked it. It's a University town, so population fluctuates with the school season. People in Oklahoma are very friendly in all parts of the state and our cost of living in Oklahoma is among the best in the nation. I wish I had more information to offer, but I do offer you a BIG Welcome! Also, I believe Weatherford may have their own city website, so you might check that out. Best Wishes to you and your family!
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Hi Janice. It has been years since I have been to Weatherford. It was always a great small college city. My brother and sister both went there years ago. The cost of living in Oklahoma is very reasonable compared to the West and East coast states amd I am sure Weatherford is no different.  I hope someone on here is from that locality to offer more input. I just want you to know that in my book Oklahoma is a great place to live and all the big and little cities and little and big  owns are equally warm welcoming places. I will just say that if you choose Oklahoma...in my book you made a great choice!  Sherry

I used to know a couple of folks that lived in Weatherford and they loved it.  I am sure their schools are good.  We have great teacher prep programs in OK.  You should be able to research the school district online.  Most of our schools post their test scores online.  I personally think OK is a wonderful place to raise a family and to retire also.  You would have fairly good acess to OKC on the weekends if you need a big city fix.  It is a straight shot down I-40.  If you move we would love to welcome you the happiest board on OH (and even if you don't move ) Denise
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Hiya Janice! Weatherford is one of those great little towns in Oklahoma. THe cost of living is about the same there as it would be in a suburb close to OKC. As for the schools the records are posted on a website so that should give ya some glimpse. Just remember one thing...we Okies are kinda laid back..even in the CITY....good luck to you and yours
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

HEY PATTE, I love your comment about Okies being kind of laid back - even in the city. I live in Grand Rapids Michigan, a middle sized city, and it is growing like crazy.  It is a beautiful city, very clean and fairly safe for its size.  BUT = Along with the growth comes what I call the big olr "Hurry Up Rush Rush" and I hate it.  A little bit of slowing down would be good for all of us! Anymore room down in Okie for me? Huggs, Pam

My borhter lived in Weatherford for several years and loved it.  Now, if you are currently in Houston, the Weather might be a bit of a shocker.  Oklahoma stays browner longer, and it gets much colder.

I doubt Weatherford has a Starbucks on every corner, but there is a lot more family type things to experience and a LOT less traffic.
