well I got home yesterday, feel like hammered s%$t today, I didn't get the tag number of the mack truck that hit me. already experienced the drinking too fast, don't want to do that again. I am just very sore and tired, my tummy isn't that sore but my legs and shoulders hurt like the dickens, anyone have that problem?

Today should be the worst day.  It should get better each day from now on.  Use a heating pad, it helps.  And, walk, walk, walk! I learned an important lesson today.  Hunger won't feel like it did before surgery.  Hunger will be felt by tiredness and dizziness.  I had been ignoring those symptoms and didn't do protein drinks consistently since I wasn't "hungry".  I did 2 protein drinks today and I feel great.  So, don't ignore your poor body like I did mine! I hope you feel better quickly! I'm sure you'll get better every day and Welcome to being in the post op club. ; )

Be sure and let your surgeon know if your leg pain doesn't get better. Walk frequently and move around. Remember to keep sipping. If you legs get red, warm, swollen, or if they don't get better, be sure to call your Dr.

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

The first two weeks after surgery are the worst, I promise it gets better!  Just sip your water and take it easy!

I agree with Denise.  The last thing you'll feel like doing is walking, but it really does help.  I remember Dr. Walton telling me NOT to lay around.  That keeping active helps you heal.  I finally realized he was right about the 4th day when I made myself get up and do my normal activities (a little slower, of course).  Your shoulders probably hurt from gas.  Watch the legs.  You don't want blood clots.  If they still hurt later on, I would definitely call the doc!  Welcome to the bench! Shelby, It is not uncommon for your shoulders to be hurting. Where is your leg pain and can you describe it? I'm glad that your surgery went well. These next couple of weeks will be trying for you. Just remember to hang in there and keep your eye on the prize, Rita

Day 3 is hammered s%$t day, didn't you know?  That was my worst day.  The good news is that when I woke up on the morning of day 4 I immediately knew I was better! You have to relearn how to drink.  At least I did.  I took me several days before I could get any real volume of liquids down.  It was just too hard.  I looked forward to sleeping so I wouldn't have to force myself to drink!  LOL! I didn't have any leg or shoulder pain.  As they've already said, shoulder is due to the gas, I'll bet.  The leg pain doesn't make sense!  Keep an eagle eye on that! I can say that at 9 days out I'm doing great.  And I'll admit that my sister, HappyCat, had to save my life yesterday.  I felt like I hit the wall.  She figured out it was a lack of protein so I ran to GNC for some 42gram protein bullets.  I felt better after the first couple of sips!  So this whole journey is a learning process! Good luck to you and please let us know if you have any questions.  Oh, and I'll let you skip the support group meeting tonight!  But only this one!  Ha!  Take good care of you!

Shelby, hang in there a little longer.  Just keep sipping, sipping, sipping.  Take it very easy for at least this first week.  Rest & focus on sipping, walking (a little) and feeling better.  You'll be back on the fast track in no time.
