I am one week post-op today and I've only lost 3 pounds!  Why??  I'm starving myself on liquids only and my traitorous body should be responding, right?  What's up?  Waaahhh!  Waaahhh!  Waaahhh!  Ok, I feel better now.  Looking for the big girl panties now.....

Those big girl panties are getting a workout between your house and mine!  I promise this too shall pass and you WILL lose.  Your body is still freaking out that you had the guts (no pun intended!) to cut out most of your stomach.  You have to lose weight.  You are not eating enough calories to support your current weight.  As soon as your poor body figures out you are not goig to starve it to death it will give up the pounds.  Big hug!  Finish your protein bullet! Love ya, kiddo! Denise
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I did have the guts to do it didn't I?  Sometimes I can't even believe I did it and it's over.  I mean, nothing really seems all that different except I can't eat and I'm occasionally riding my broom around! How did you know that I haven't finished my bullet?  It's giving me garbage breath!  I'm offending myself!

ha!!!!!!!!!!! that is so funny!!!!  Those nasty things do you give garbage breath!!  LOL.   I'm not telling my DH about the "riding the broom" around part that so many of you are going through.  He probably thinks I am cranky enough as I am!

It will start to fall off soon.  You are retaining fluids from your hospital stay.   Carrie

Well, Sweetie, I am the proud queen of the slow loser club, so I'm not letting you go for my crown! ; ) You're body is wondering if you have had your throat cut and your metabolism is probably going on strike.

Also, if your sodium intake is high, you're probably hanging on to all the fluids you're drinking. Don't worry. We all lose at different rates. Also, other medications can make you hold on to weight ... which in my case also has me scratching my head for ideas!

It will pass and focus on how your BP has already changed!!! : ) We can be thin next year. Try to focus on walking, fluids, protein, and going for the marathon and not the sprint. Now, repeat this to me!!!    : )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Kim....don't worry it will work! Everybody is different and not every one loses 20 lbs on liquids (I didn't!) - Don't compare others' weight loss to yours either, it will only make you bonkers.....take it one day at a time, drink ALL your fluids and move as much as you can (go for short walks several times a day) - you seem to be in ketosis, so the weight has to come off !.
