Full of Life

We used to do this on the Michigan board so I thought I'd bring it here now too.  Here's five questions to see what others think.  1. What is one food you know will set well on your pouch? 2. How much protein do you eat in a day?  3. You're at the mall and need to eat... what will it be? 4. Name one thing that is now gone out of your life and you don't miss it at all.  5. What was your most frustrating moment this past week?  Here's mine:  1. What is one food you know will set well on your pouch? I'm afraid of jinxing myself but I'll go with cottage cheese 2. How much protein do you eat in a day? I actually quite keeping track, but need to start up again. At last count I was consistantly getting in 100 grams of protein per day. 3. You're at the mall and need to eat... what will it be? Trick question, I don't go to the mall!! Probably a dbl cheese burger from Mc D's or a 4 piece nugget. 4. Name one thing that is now gone out of your life and you don't miss it at all. HEEL SPURS!!!!! Good golly those things are sooo darn painful. 5. What was your most frustrating moment this past week? Going on line to find out that it would cost me $900 for a plane ticket to Michigan to be there for my sons HS graduation this Sunday! Obviously, I won't be able to be there.

What a great idea!  I'm only a week post-op so I'm too new to be able to answer this stuff.  Try me again in a month!

I'm just a bit over a month post -op, so here's my answers so far:

1) Soup! (what always goes down well)

2) My original goal was 85 gms per day, but after my visit to the nephrologist yesterday .... due to my lupus .... my protein goal is lowered to 60 gms. per day. I generally get 50 - 60 gms per day. I found it was hard for me to get 85 gms per day at this point post op. But, my kidney issues from lupus are now messing me up ... so 60 gms daily for me. (protein eaten in a day)

3) Maybe a chicken and romaine lettuce salad with fat free Italian dressing if I could find it. Otherwise, a tuna packet from my purse with some water to drink while walking around. ; ) (what to eat at the mall, but I don't usually go to the mall... so this is a hypothetical salad.)

4) All my blood pressure medication and high blood pressure!!!    : ) (what I absolutely don't miss since surgery)

5) Swallowing a bug while bike riding. (most frustrating moment this past week)

Thanks for this thread!

Your number 5:    The bug had to count as a protein didn't it?

Right! But, I never did figure out how much. ; )

We're riding again tonight and I'm hoping to stay bug free to start off the weekend! : )

Heel spurs gone?!!!!  Oh Please dear Lord let that happen to me!!!  I have been battling a heel spur in my right heel since December.  In fact the heel spur is what caused me to tear the menicus in my left knee because I was limping and putting all my weight on the other leg.  My knee is fixed by that darn heel spur is there.  It got better through physical therapy but still there keeping me from really doing the amount of walking I want to do.  I really hope that happens to me.  This is a great post and I look forward to reading what everyone says.

I did not have heel spurs until after surgery when I started exercising like crazy, got shots twice and they went away.  Now I have a bunion on my right foot, going to doctor on Monday.

Here in Fort Smith, podiatrist, very good.  They froze the bottom of my foot and injected it, couple  of weeks apart, broke them up and helped me get back to exercise.  You should a doctor! I was also walking 6-7 miles at night at that time and have started that back as part of my routine exercise.

Let me know I remember how painful it was!
