Anyone got an owner's manual for a slightly used 50 year old body??
Well, apparently I am going to need to get to know my body all over again. I have been really tired and a little dizzy the last few days. I just kind of ignored it until yesterday. I talked to Dr. Walton last night for another reason and asked him about it. He said to make sure I got in a couple of protein drinks and that would help. Then, Jessica called today. I told her I hadn't been doing protein drinks since I wasn't hungry. So, bottom line she said hunger won't feel like it did before surgery!?!!? It will feel like fatigue and dizzy! Who knew? My poor body had been trying to tell me to feed it and I ignored it! I got in 45 grams of protein today and feel wonderful! I am kin dof like the energizer bunny!!! Yeah! I am baaaack!
What a learning curve this new little banana has!

Oh, I am certainly missing a lot or original parts! Got a lot of miles on the old girl! I am just happy to feel human again. It is totally unlike me to sit around all day. That is what I had been doing for the last week. I had no idea hunger wouldn't feel like hunger anymore. Go figure! I feel like a need an interpreter!

Denise - hunger will not feel the same again, even when you are further out. I have not experience hunger since the day before surgery (on liquids
). The indication I get that I need to eat is an empty feeling in my stomach (well, the banana as you call it
) - I can actually feel the emptiness when I drink water. So, yeah, don't expect the hunger pangs as a sign that you are hungry. Since you are not eating yet, weakness & fatigue will play a part in this and definitely drink some protein drinks. When you start mushies you will find that the fatigue and dizziness will no longer be there - You are almost there!!! - You are doing a great job!

Thanks, Anna! A little over 24 hours until mushies!!!!!! I can't wait! Food, real food! And it won't be an icky sweet protein drink. My taste for sweets has certainly changed. I can't stand, at this point, much sweetness. It is just icky. Another suprise brought to me by my banana.
I want spicy! Will I survive a packet of Taco Bell sauce on my refried beans?

I survived 4 packages and extra red sauce. I too, was SICK of sweet. Spicy was good for me, but I understand bad for others. And I'm 6 weeks post op - I still don't know what hungry feels like. So, if you figure it out, let me know!
I definitely go for the spicy over the sweet - I bought some bars at the WW marketplace and then also got some Atkins Advantage bars, because I am trying to eat breakfast (not doing real well with that) - well, I can't eat the Atkins bars..they are sooooo sweet, I got nauseated from those. Not crazy about sweets at all at this point. I never liked spicy foods before, but I seem to tolerate them better than I used to. The taste buds definitely change!
