I weighed this morning and the great scale moved a few lbs and even in the right direction! The surgery is once again begining to seem like a reality.  I'm starting to get nervous now.  I read every post and wonder if I will have the same things some of you guys have....getting sick, acid reflux, freezing all the time, etc.   I am trying to remember that even though you may have some issues, overall I think you have each said you you are so thankful that you did it.  I wish I could be at the support group meeting Thursday.  I really need it.  But, my 8 year old has a baseball game and I promised him I would go.  I have already missed practices and games because of college.   Why didn't I do this surgery in my 30s when I had so much less stress in my life?!  Now I have an extrememly rewarding but demanding job, working on my MBA, taking speaking engagements on the side, enjoying my 8 year old, and trying to fit in quality time hubby and family.  I really depend on this message board more than y'all realize. Don't let me back out!!!!

I know I'm one of the biggest whiners on the board, but I have to tell you despite all my complaining, I'm very happy I had the surgery!  It sounds like you have a lot going on, but there's never going to be a "perfect" time to do this.  But you should think of how many more years this could add to your life to spend with your family and all the postive things that can come from it.  Your surgery date will be here before you know it, and then all of your pre-op hard work will have been worth it.  Are you going to be able to go to the support group meeting in the middle of the month?   Oh yeah, I do have the acid reflux and all, but I think I can deal with that much better than the high blood sugars I used to have!  And I like the freezing part.  I'm getting to execise outside w/out "melting" in the Oklahoma heat.  Just remind me that I said that when winter gets here! Diana,  You are exactly right.  There would probably never be a "perfect" time.  While I was less stressed a few years ago, I wasn't mentally prepared for this.  Thanks for reminding me. -Amy

Hi Amy - great job on the weight loss!! See, didn't I tell you that you would make it? The five lbs are as good as gone. You have been doing a really great job! As for the surgery and the aftermath, don't worry, some people have small issues some don't. I am one of those who never had any problems after surgery, I have never gotten sick, and did not have any pain, only thing I still fight a little is heartburn (but that was a problem for me even before WLS). I do get cold, but, hey, that's what my little space heater under my desk is for!!! (I get cold mostly at work..) So, all in all, I had a great outcome from surgery and I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I know you will do great!! - Anna

Way to go, Amy!!! I am so proud of you.  Rescheduling your surgery was the smartest thing you ever did.  Aren't you glad you gave yourself a bit of a breather? I am NOT cold!  I may be a little cooler but definitely not cold.  I am handling my reflux well with Protonix that was prescribed and a Zantac that I prescribed myself.  Even though this is day 14 without food I am glad I had the surgery.  I am down 10 pounds since surgery!!! It would have taken me months and months in weigh****chers to do that.  My nausea has passed.  As much as I hate to admit it- I tihnk Ruth was right and I was a little dehydrated.  (Love ya' Ruth!)  I am much more diligent about taking fluid with me now. Come to dinner on the 18th and you can watch the lab rats eat dinner (our wonderful post-op folks!)  Hey, I can say that because I am one of those lab rats!!!! Denise
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I should be able to go on the 18th.  That would be fun and make up for not getting to go this Thursday.  I'm glad the nausea has passed.  That is my biggest fear.  At least I hear they give you some gel that really helps it.  In July when I have my surgery I will really have to watch for the dehydration.

No regrets, even though I had a pretty unpleasant experience with beef and snow peas at Lido yesterday. You'll do great, and you'll be glad you did it. You hear a lot of the negative stuff, but none of my negative experiences compares with the immense satisfaction of sending off eight bags of clothes that used to fit (clownwear), or being called "slim" by people who haven't seen you in a few months. Being cold gives me an excuse to get outside once in a while, and makes my business trip to Scottsdale AZ next week something to look forward to.

Even with the bad experiences now and then I can tell that y'all really are happy with your surgery.  So, even though it might be bad for a moment, I guess in the big picture everything is so much better than before.  I can't wait to get rid of my huge clothes!  And, it will be nice to be sweating in a meeting while all the skinny folks are shivering because they think it is too cold.

Congratulations Amy!!!! Way to go!!! You'll be at your surgery date in no time! : ) I'm so proud for you!!!

I had a really easy post-op course. My only issue is/was being cold. However, that one isn't bad at all in our Oklahoma summer. ; ) Now I can actually exercise outside in the evenings and not feel that I'm going to have a heat stroke. I'll take being a bit on the cold side any day... actually I'm thinking of it as another benefit of WLS. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
