My 6 wk post-op update

Bless your heart! I do understand stalls ... just getting out of one myself. I have been journaling and found it difficult to get in even 600 calories a day. I called Abby (one of the registered dieticians at my surgeon's) and she told me to try my best to up my calories to 850 or even 1000 calories per day. That helped me break the stall.

I've also been exercising a bunch .... bike riding and exercise DVDs (Leslie Sansone) and aerobic household chores. I sure hope I'm building muscle since I'm exercising more than ever before. The inches are coming off ... so I know something has to be shifting around. I bet you're losing inches, too. Hang in there!

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Oh wow!  You and I had our surgery the same day........ I was supposed to see Dr. Walton on today, but I had to reschedule ( we are coming from Texas and hubby had stomach flu ) for this Thursday.  We are going ahead and leaving tomorrow...... I was also worried that Dr. was gonna say I am doing poorly.  I guess we will see.  My tummy holds a lot more than most people I think?  I can already eat 1/2 a cup of food at a time..... Unless it is JUST meat I am eating I can only take about 4 or 5 bites of meat! ( any kind ) And I do NOT get my water...... I posted my problems on the VSG forum.  I still eat carbs, no water, 1 gallon of decaf tea a day, and NO exercise, so I know I am in for a butt chewing.  Esp. since I have been stalled out for over a week!!!!!!!! Ughhhh!!!!!!!  Well we'll see what he says, I deserve him to lay into me!  Old habits die hard!   Best of luck to you sweetie!                                                                             Jenn

I hope your appt goes better than you think.  It doesn't sound like you eat a lot if you can only eat 4 or 5 bites of meat.  I can eat about 8.  Isn't funny that we talk like this now?  Could you imagine those of us that have had the surgery at a food eating contest?  I just don't know why so many of us are haivng problems getting in our fluids.  I've been sipping on the same 8 oz for the past hour!  And I know what you mean about old habits.  I fixed carbs for dinner last night (fettucini alfredo) and practically sat drooling while my family ate it as I ate my rotisserie chicken and broccoli.  Oh well, I'm sure we'll get w/ the program eventually!  Have a safe trip from Texas!  And best of luck to you, too! I don't know if this would be something you'd be interested in or not, but a few months back Rita had posted about some tofu noods (they make them in "spaghetti" and "fettucini") that are very low carb 3g (2g fiber), 0.5 grams of fat, and 20 calories for 4 oz.  Let me tell you - there is no way you can eat 4 oz!    Anyway, they were pretty good - with spaghetti sauce and a meatball, I sure felt like I was getting my pasta fix!  I bought them in the refrigerated section at Akins and they are called Tofu Shirataki (Sp?) noodles.  Just if someone was interested - they're not bad.   (although may I say, RINSE THEM WELL!)

Thanks for the suggestion.  Do you think they would taste good w/ alfredo sauce on them?  i've tried sphagetti squash w/ tomato sauce, and it's pretty good, but my body knows it's eating a vegetable.  But I can never finish the squash and throw it away before it goes bad.  I guess that's how it's going to be for now on, and I guess that I really shouldn't complain about that since that's the whole point of the surgery.... to not be able to finish a meal! diana

Thanks so much Diana! I am about to leave....... Yes, it's weird sometimes I really pu**** on the meat and get really nauseated so I am real careful not to over stuff! ( I do that to much! ) But a comfortable amount for me is 1/2 cup or  about 4 or 5 bites of meat.......... I try to realize that 1st full feeling and stop, even though because of my past habits I want to push on or clear my plate.  It really is sooooo hard to change those life habits!  Well, best of luck to you and maybe we'll meet one another at the diet class in July with Jessica!  ( by the way, I can't get her to call me back either ????? ) Normally everyone at WW is GREAT about calling back...I think she is just so busy with Chris's clients too cause I think she's out having a baby?????? Not sure, but I was Chris's client and now Jessica took over, so? Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!                        Jenn

Thanks for your support, Rita.  How are you doing?  How's your foot?  Did you go to the meeting tonight?  I'm going to wait for the next one cuz of the storms!  See you soon! Diana

The foot is doing great. Thanks for asking. I didn't go to the meeting because it was my birthday and I had other plans. I am going to try to go to the next one. See ya there.
