Are you taking Prilosec or another proton pump inhibitor?  I had to switch from Prilosec to Protonix the week after surgery due to acid.  I have also added an afternoon Zantac to the mix.  I am doing well with this regimine.  We will see how it goes when I actually get to eat mushies on Friday. Bless your heart. That sounds miserable. Are you taking a proton pump inhibitor? I'm on prevacid solutabs and it's working great. My rheumatologist said there were several that were better now than Prilosec OTC. Give your surgeon or PCP a call and see what they recommend or will prescribe for you.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I'll add my bit of un-expert advice and ask are you sure it's hearburn?  I developed acid reflux from the surgery and have to take reglan four times a day.  You should ask your doctor about how you feel so you take the right thing.  I know it bothers me a lot to drink water, but if I add a heavy flavored mix (like Kellogs or South Beach protein mixes) it goes down a lot easier.   Diana
