Biking in the wind and extra protein surprise! Gross!
Hubby and I biked tonight and I made my goal of breaking 5 miles. I made it 5.25 miles.
However, going north was a piece of cake, but going south was nearly impossible! (I can't wait until I lose more weight and have a smaller body that creates less wind resistance.) Biking south had me whining, grunting, and sweating. I actually felt like I was pedaling in place for minutes at a time.
After rounding a corner and then heading south again, I was giving it my all as we were headed to the 5 mile mark. Heavy breathing, coming up on the spot where I crashed earlier in the week, and thinking that the wind was gusting even harder ..... I suddenly had some kind of little bug fly up my nose!!! I was horrified and disgusted! I thought maybe he had flown back out, hopefully, only to immediately feel it in the back of my throat! It went down! OH MY GOSH!!! I'm still on soft food and I don't think BUGS are on my diet! I was about to cry and panic. Hubby was concerned until he found out what happened and then he had a hard time keeping from laughing. I couldn't get the bug up and it wouldn't go down! Thank goodness it was small. So, we bike back to the car.... I drink a bunch of water, and finally the bug was gone. Gross!!!
Does anybody have any idea how many grams of protein are in a small, flying insect? : (
ONEDERLAND!!!! FINALLY!!!! WHOOOO HOOOOO!
Deb, that sounds fun! Only problems is hubby and I haven't got a bike rack for the car yet. We can only bike in our daughter's neighborhood for now. You're welcome to join us there if you'd like. : )
We are getting helmets this afternoon and will also be looking for a bike rack. Do you have any bike rack recommendations? I liked the style of the rack on the back of your SUV!

Let me know if you are biking on Thursday-I'd love to meet you.
If you have a hitch, I love love love my rack-it's a new model by Sari's that's less expensive than their other hitch racks. It folds up out of the way if you are like me and want to leave it on all the time.
If you don't have a hitch or use multiple vehicles-the old Sari's Bones is the favorite of many. For your cruiser or a mt bike with a radical slope on the top tube, you'll need an adapter bar.
