I wondered if I'm super whimp or what?  Had VSG on Wednesday and just got up this morning.  Couldn't wait to get to that liquid bottle of hope!  Am I the only one that still had to have help with the pain on day 3?  It's that pain in the left side that's getting me!  Electric

You are doing perfectly fine Ms Thang!!  Sometimes it can take 1-2 weeks - just listen to your body.  If you need help, you know where I am! I'll try to call you today if you don't do it first!  Big date tonight !!!

I had  surgery (lap-band) on Tues. I still have a little pain, but for the most part I am ok. I havent taken the pain meds since Wed.PM.   It seemed to make me really LAZY and not want to do anything but sleep. I knew I had to get up and walk the soreness out.  SO,  I got up and went to Wal-mart. That made everything better. I think I could actually go back to work today, if I had to. I am planning on going out shopping more today,  I know I have to walk the pain out.   I hope you feel better.  Sue

I had my surgery on a Monday and couldn't keep the lortab down.  I had i.v. pain meds on Wednsday and went home.  I was still wishing I could have pain meds on Friday.  But by the weekend I was fine.  My pain was mostly the bruising though.  I had a big ole hematoma on my left side that hurt when I moved.  It sounds like you are doing awesome!  Get plenty of rest and don't push yourself.  When you have surgery and aren't eating anything, your body needs it! Kim - I'm happy to tell you that today will probably be the worst day yet.   The only reason I'm happy to say that is that today will probably be the last of the really bad days.  I know that on day 3 I was suckin' on that liquid Lortab bottle every time I woke up because I hurt so bad. Take it easy today and keep after your medicine.  It's easier to stay ahead of that pain than get back on top of it if it gets too bad.   As of today, I still have about one dose left in my bottle - just in case that third day kind of pain comes back. Hang in there - this time next week you'll be feeling so much better that you'll have to look at your incisions to remember that you even had surgery. Enjoy the Lortab, John

So your left side pain went away after about day 3?  Walton did tell me there is some kind of stitch in there and it can take up to 6 weeks.  Really don't want to do that.  LOL!  Wonder if I can use a heating pad?

Maybe you can call and ask them (WW) about the heating pad? I have seen it posted on the VSG board about people using the heating pad right after surgery, but I don't remember what for... - yeah I know this was a lot of help.. -Anna

I used my heating pad some.  I remember it being talked about at one of the support meetings.  I only took one dose of liquid loritab after I got home (RNY).  I saw on the bottle do not take on empty stomach or without food!!!  The Loritab made me really sick to my stomach so my choice was the pain as opposed to being sick to my stomach.  Everyone is different.  I did take some tylenol but actually after about the 3rd day I was pretty well good to go.  It took me a couple of weeks to actually feel "normal" again.  It sounds like you are doing great!  I know you're glad it's all behind you now.  Also, I gained a little weight from the surgery that showed up on the scales so don't let that discourage you.  They pump a lot of air in you and I'm sure some of the IV fluids.  It was about a week after that I saw that gone plus some!!!  Debbie

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

I used the heating pad a couple of times- on low.  I think it helped.  At least it made me feel I was doing something for the discomfort.  Don't comparte yourself to my recovery.  I have a very high pain tolerance due to years of dealign with arthritis pain.  You are not a whimp!  You just paid these guys big bucks to remove a major body part through small holes in your stomach!  They rearranged your innards, filled you with gas, cut muscle, and cut an organ into 2 pieces!  TAKE YOUR DRUGS!!! That's why you have them! Your loving sister and sleeve sista

Ok, I'm hauling out the heating pad now.  I think it will help.  I also took Shelly's advice and I'm using a straw.  I think it's helping to get a smaller amount of liquid in without so much air! Later, Gator!
