HELP! I don't understand
Well they say loosing the pre-op weight is the hardest part but come on!!! I really started watching what I was eating, doing the protein bars, shakes and soups. Started walking everyday, except on Sundays. I been doing this faithfully since May 5th and I went in today to check my weight and only 10 pounds!! I have to get 35 off before June 18th, what do I do??? I'm so scared!!!! I don't want to push this off any longer. I can't say that I have been true blue on the weekends but nothing like I have done before, so I'm a little discouraged... Did I weigh in at the wrong time? I went about 4:00 this afternoon and had been drinking water ALL day..... I will take ANY advise at this point!!! I'm off to walk some more!!
Robin,
As long as you weigh in at the same time, you are looking more at the difference, not actually at the weight. I weigh in the morning before I drink or eat anything. The only thing I have on is undies and socks. Drinking more water than on other days may also make a difference, but don't stop drinking water. Try weighing in the morning in about the same weight clothing. Good luck!

Robin, I always try to get my appointments early in the morning when it is the true weight. Talk with the nutritionist, Jessica and see what she suggests about a very aggressive meal plan. I did that for the week and half prior to my surgery date and lost 16 pounds. I also had to lose 35 pounds to get ready for surgery. You can do it just drinks lots of water, exercise like crazy, and get with Jess about a new plan. Good luck.
Surgery date: March 3, 2008
Weight lost since surgery: 40 pounds
Total lost pre and post op: 68 pounds
Weight lost from my highest: 82 pounds

Robin, you can do this! I only had a short time to loose what I need to loose as well. I followed the agressive plan that Jess put me on. I don't know what happened to me but I was soooo focused because I wanted the surgery ASAP... I bought some digital bathroom scales at Sams for about $30 and they weigh over 400 an are extremely accurate. I always compare them when I go to the doctor. Good luck...you can do it! Debbie
Robin, Just keep on doing whatever Jess says. If you feel like you need a different diet plan, give her a call. She will be glad to work with you to find a plan that will benefit you. Ten pounds is a nice weight loss since May 5th. Do you have to take off 35 more pounds, or is it 25 pounds now? It is best to weigh as early in the am as possible. Also, you are going to have to be "true blue" on the weekends as well. I'm not saying this to be mean, I just want you to succeed. Best of Luck, Rita
If you were drinking alot of water and had not um...."released" it, then you could have been holding a few lbs of water weight. That has happened to me. That is why it is best to weigh in the morning before eating or drinking anything. When you weighed at weightwise last time, was it in the morning or afternoon? I went to walmart and found a scale that weighs up to 380 and is within a couple of lbs of the weight wise scale. Also, if you were not letter perfect this weekend then try weighing tomorrow morning. It takes me a day to lose the salt from weekend in which I was not perfect.

I did not like the aggressive diet plan they gave me and after seeing Dr. Keller and asking, I found out it wasn't about the protein but about getting the weight off. So I did "the Kimmy plan". Here is what I had:
B - 1/2 c lf cottage cheese, 1 banana (had low potassium)
L - 3-5 ozs tuna, 2tb lf Miracle Whip, steam fresh veggies (not corn but as many as I Iiked)
D - same as lunch
I only ate 1 piece of fruit during the day at Jessica's suggestion. I also had a piece of string cheese during the day if I wanted it. (Frigo light)
I also went back to the gym and walked. Doing 6-7 miles per week. And I didn't cheat because I was highly motivated to get a surgery date!
And it makes a HUGE difference what time of day you weigh in. Usually a 4-5 pound difference for me.
Hang in there! The weight will come off
and you'll get a surgery date.
Good luck to you! Hope I didn't bore you with my details!

Hi Robin, I sent you a msg before I read this about your weighing. 10 lbs is great!!! Tha's almost a third of your weight to lose. And getting started (at least for me) is the hard part. Now you got your body going, I bet you'll get the rest off. Also remember that those last couple of days before surgery you will lose a few extra any due to the liquid diet and all. I think it's wonderful that you are putting so much effort into it and doing so wonderful so far! If you ever want to go on any extra walks, I walk almost every night and live pretty close to you!
