I am so STUCK!

I am SO STUCK ... Stalled .... not moving the scale at all. I know it's not all about the scale, but at this point,  I was hoping it would keep moving. I haven't been eating anything except what I am supposed to, so I'm  not cheating at all. I am  having some difficulty hitting  my water and protein goals, but I'm doing pretty good and definitely not dehydrated or too deficient in protein. I've been biking and exercising regularly and last night rode almost exactly 3 miles ... just a bit short. The inches have changed and hubby and our kids notice a difference, but I'm still  a little in the dumps. I'm worried that all the years of heavy duty lupus drugs (Imuran, Arava, Methotrexate, and corticosteroids up to 50 mg per day for months, IV Rituxan, etc.) has done something horrible to my metabolism and that I'm permanently stuck. It blows my mind that I can be very active and eating so few calories and maintaining like I'm eating at a banquet for every meal! Sorry to be down friends ... hopefully I'll feel better by morning. I'm going biking again now and will be back probably about 9:30 or 10:00 PM. I think Memorial Day has been difficult, too, so maybe it's just my time to be a little down. Thanks to all of you for listening to me whine! Please offer your words of wisdom.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Shelly - hang in there.....it is not uncommon to have a stall right about now post op wise.  Your body is still trying to figure things out and it is saving what you have until it knows what to do about it.  Don't lose faith.  Stick to the program and things will move along - do not falter!! Keep coming here and we'll boost you up!!!

Don't worry too much, I had a stall 4 weeks post op that lasted 9 days.  Now I only weigh once a week on Sundays.  I was worried that the surgery didn't work on me for some reason, but it did.  I did do some extra exercise and that seemed to help move out of the stall.  I do remember being a bit depressed about the weigh not coming off that week though and I am sure that it will for you also. Thanks so much Ruth and Dionne. I do feel better after hearing form both of you and knowing that it isn't unusual to stall at this time. I also feel better after biking with hubby ... I made it 3.697 miles tonight ... my best yet. So, even if this fat should hang on like glue, at least I'm going to be more fit and healthy underneath it! : ) I'm also going to desperately try to only weigh weekly. I told myself before surgery that I wasn't going to fall for the trap of weighing every day .... and just look at me! Sheesh!

I hope everyone has a great upcoming week! I'm going to be making some changes this week. ; )

Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Hi,  I am scheduled to do surgery soon and starting close to the same BMI as what you have.  I know alot have said with the lower BMI it comes off slower.  So I have been doing alot of research to see what I can do to keep the weight coming off especially during our "window of op".  The one thing I can see that seems to help with a stall is protein.  The ladies that are getting in 80-120 per day say they are 10 plus months out with no stalls yet.  I just purchased 5 12  packs of the bullets and think I will hit it hard when I get home.  Just food for thought.  I know at this point you probably would try anything to get it all moving again.  Let me know how it goes.  I have been watching your post and really enjoy reading them.  I will be joining you all on 6-2 and can't wait but very very nervous.

I remember posting about being stuck at two and a half weeks out.  It didn't last very long and now I'm back to losing 2 to 4 pounds a week.  And I read that someone said it might be muscle weight.  I think it probably is from how much you're saying you're exercising!  And at least you might be luckier than some if you're able to tone up as you're losing.  I'm already experiencing the "deflated balloon" look w/ some flabbiness and I'm only 5 weeks out.  I hope I can pick up the pace and start developing more muscle and toning.  Good for you!  Diana

Good Morning Shelly, All the info the others have posted makes perfect sense.  Remember that it is a life style change we are making and there isn't any particular date line/pounds lost that we MUST meet.  Stalls can happen at any time throughout our journey.  Whether one is three weeks out or three years or even more.  Just keep doing what you are doing and follow all the instructions and information you were given from your dr. prior to the surgery. And also, don't become a slave to that scale!  I know this personally because sometimes I want to jump on it a couple of times a day.  Our weight flucuates too much and for me that I would sometimes get so upset if the "number"  wasn't moving fast enough to where I felt it should be.  I weigh now no more than once a week and sometimes even less than that. Keep the faith and hang in there.  We are all here to support one another! Huggs, Pam

Shelly - you always have such good advice and words of wisdom.  You know this is just a stall and very normal.  I can imagine that it is very discouraging but you're doing great.  Here is my advice - tell your hubby that you feel  you would lose faster if you had one of those fabulous Day6 bicycles!

Thanks to every one of you that replied! I'm going to try to increase my protein (more drinks ...yum!) and my fluids (even more drinking). Otherwise I'm just going to keep on doing as I'm doing and hope that someday my weight will change. This is definitely testing my patience. ; )
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
