OK, so it is Saturday morning and the weekend.  The kids are out of school for the summer.  What are we all planning on doing this weekend, much less the summer?  I was really hoping that some people in the Lawton area would want to get together for meet and greet somewhere here in Lawton but no one is coming out and speaking up.  Bummer.... I guess I will have to bite the bullet and go up to OKC when you guys have yours.  You guys sound like you have alot of fun at them anyways. Well now that I am all settled in Lawton (been here 2 years now) my husband just got orders to report to Ft Bragg, NC on Jan 10, 2009.  I am 6 classes away from finishing my Bachelors and told him I wont be leaving until school is out this time next year.  It is agreed.  So my husband gets to spend this summer redoing our deck and upgrading the wiring in the house so we can be ready to sell our house come January.  This will hopefully be our last duty station since my husband already has 17 1/2 years in.

WOW, Have you ever been stationed there before? My sister's first husband was nad I had a blast in Fayeteville! I am kinda envious that you will be livng close to my family....just be prepared the humidity that will make you sweat like crazy. Alot of braggers go to Laurinburg to shp and if you are into anitques Southern Pines and Abeerden is the place to. They have the best German delis downtown and these sweet little cafes.  Not to mention if ya into horses a great place not far from Southern Pines that has 300 acreas of trail riding.  And Oprah has a house there....

I have never been stationed in NC but have been there to visit one of my closest friends (we have known each other since we were 5) who lives in Mt Olive.  My husband is going in January but the kids and I wont go out there until end of May next year because I only have 6 more classes left at Cameron to finish my Bachelors and I refuse to transfer schools again.  I am looking forward to another change.  I really dont care for the area that I am in right now.  Shopping is right down my alley and so are the German Delis (we just spent 4 years in Germany and miss the food).  I really would like to ride some horses also.  My husband plans on looking for a couple of acres when he gets there because we are tired of living in the cities and want some space...who knows, maybe I can talk him into a horse or two once we buy our land there.  I will definitely have to talk to you more about the area once we get there to find out all the cool spots....I am excited even though it is a year out.  In order to do anything in my area I have to drive to OKC or Wichita Falls.  Neither drive is very close and we have to pay a dang toll just to get out of our town in either direction.

Wow congrats on your degree and I dont blame you for not moving till you are finished.  The rule of thumb for large livestock in NC is either 2.5 acres of land for each or 3 acres. Something to think about. I have a great friend who's husband is stationed at Bragg and they live about 30 minutes from there. If I dont know an answer I wll call and ask her. I miss NC...you can wake up in the mountains an by the afternoon you will be at the beach... Plus if you are into history there are so many historical sites around. Out there you cant drive for miles without running into a town like here...I told my sister that living in Oklahoma and traveling the back roads is like going back in time. If you dont care water and food with you then you might drive for hours till you find a store. ANd God forbid its Saturday afternoon...then you are still out of luck...(happened to me up near Fort Supply).
