Two Week (sorta) Update!
I went in for my two week post op class today, even though it's technically been almost 3, and I've lost a grand total of 12.5 pounds since surgery! I told Jess that I have weighed that for a week, is it too early for a plateau, and she said it's because I started eating again, that eventually I would start losing again lol.
Michelle,
Glad to hear you are doing well. I asked Dr. Walton last week about being stuck or gaining and he told me that in the two weeks of liquids your body will sometimes drop part of the fluid that is actually necessary to digest solid food so that when we start to eat again, we may see fluid weight come back on even though we are clearly eating far far fewer calories that we expend each day.
Are you still feeling pretty good? I seem to have gotten over my malaise from earlier in the week and feel pretty good today. I made it a point to eat protein for dinner last night and lunch today (chicken livers - yum) and it does seem to have helped how I feel physically... BUT I have noticed today that my attitude has really gone downhill. The people that work for me have really been on my nerves, as has my boss...I don't know, I've just been kind of pissy in general today. Have you experienced anything like that since surgery? I know I've read of people further out having atitude adjustment issues, but three weeks seem kind of early...
Maybe I just need a holiday - good thing there's one coming in just a couple of hours! I'm sure I'll be better once I get home at the end of the day.
Hope you have a great weekend!
John
I've been stuck and not losing weight this week, too. I've been doing a lot of research online and have many of the symptoms of my metabolism trying to put the breaks on since it thinks I'm starving. A stall, or plateau, of weight loss is reported by tons of folks on the VSG board at weeks 2 -4. I guess I'm right on target. The most important things to get your metabolism going again is to actually up your calories a bit, be sure to drink your water/fluids, and be active. I did go down 1/2 lb. this morning, but I'm not counting it until it lasts and more join it! I'm also desperately attempting to stop weighing every day. : /
John, you have hit the nail on the head. I'm staying with my family these next two weeks, and I've had to literally walk out of the room before I snap at someone, I know it's just the hormones going on a rampage, but still, I have to hold myself back. It seems like everyone was getting on my nerves with everything they did, no matter what it was. So yes, the witch is trying to come out, but I'm keeping her chained up in my pouch, so she's giving me lots of gas lol. I actually went out with my family tonight to Ole's on Memorial, and had some of their shredded chicken that they put on their taco salads and some refried beans. With lots of cheese lol. Talk about yummy. I had to force myself to quit eating, but I really didn't want to because it was so good. I've gotten that symptom alot, I hope that's normal. What with my tuna melts and refried beans, I may just have to stop eating lol.
