MY HAIR IS FALLING OUT

Ok - so I'm almost three years post op, all my labs checked out great (had them done just last week,) I take all my vitamins, I take 10,000 units of Biotin a day, and always get my protien in.  So, what is going on?  Its not falling out in what I would describe as handfulls but whenever I wash my hair there is enough floating over the drain so that the water starts to back up.   The only thing I can think of that may be causing this is stress.  But, lots of folks have stress in their lives and their hair usually doesn't begin to fall out. I had hair loss early post op but that was a long time ago.  Any help or ideas from you guys would be appreciated.  Thanks. Huggs, Pam

I don't know what to tell you but I'm so sorry you're having problems.  The only other thing that I've heard in conjunction with hair loss is Nioxin shampoo.  I have no idea if it actually works but I'm going to buy some "just in case".  If it makes you feel any better, my surgeon says that by the time you realize you're losing hair, it is already growing back. Hang in there!  This too shall pass! Kim

because of thyroid problems and skin poblems I have had problems with losing hair. I have found that being natural is the best thing you can do. dont use hairspray, mousse, or gel unless  you have to. it cloggs the pores on your scalp. when my hair is falling out the only shampoo I can use is head and shoulders classic clean and sometimes i will use a little light conditioner just dont use it on the scalp. a few years ago I had lost so much hair you could see my scalp through my  hair. now its thicker still not as thick as it once was but thick enough that i am letting it grow out now  the first time in 15 yrs. I worry about after surgery if i will be  battling this again and I am sure I will. but I am prepared this time. I have no idea wht is causing your hair loss but i hope that you figure it out soon

Pammie, I called a friend who is a hair stylist and she said stress, menopuase, and using the same hair products can cause the hair to thin out plus the dirty dirty word called getting older. She recommends changing you shampoo and conditioner and not tease the hair. If it doesnt improve in a few weeks go see a doctor...could be a vitamin deficiency....(wish OH had spell check)
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

Pam, I had this happen after each of our children were born. At the time it was from hormonal changes and also having surgery (C-sections). Although, it didn't happen after my hysterectomy....so I'm thinking the hormone changes of birth caused it at the time. It can be caused by stress and many other factors. My guess is that it is the stress of your situation currently, but it is generally temporary. Try to do some positive things that you enjoy and some regular exercise to relax. I'm so sorry this is adding to your worries, but it should be temporary. I always keep you and your husband and your friend Karen in my prayers.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly
