IV question

I was in the hospital 3 days and my IV stayed in until just before I went home.  I also had a central line that was put in after I was under anesthesia and it came out when the IV in my hand came out.  The clear plastic tape over the central line gave me blisters.  I hate the needles too!  They tried to put one in my right hand first, then tried my left hand.  They always gave me lidocaine first---thank goodness.
