IV question
After my not so fun adventure in getting my blood drawn, I have an IV question. How long with that sucker be in? Will they take it out the afternoon after surgery? When I had my gallbladder out last August, they used a lidocaine cotton swab before they put the IV in. Ok, goofy questions but I didn't enjoy being a pin cushion!
Thanks!
Kim
Girls, Dr. B likes his IV's left in until you are about ready to walk out the door to go home. Dr. Walton's patients usually get theirs out after he has made rounds the morning of the day you are to be discharged. Just be sure to wear the big girl panties that day, Oh, wait a minute, that is Amy with the big girl panties. Oh well, Put them on anyway, LOL. Rita
Good Lord - they haven't EVEN poked her yet and she is whining!!!
Are you going to whine all the way through the door to the surgical suite??? I'm brining EARPLUGS!!!!
Ask Amy to be a sweet nurse and she MAY use the LIdocaine. She is REALLY good at sticking peeps. There have been a couple times I have had to have her come stick me for other things - when I was dehydrated THAT was fun!
I understand that pin cushion thing like no one's business - had the same trouble with the labs a few weeks ago and was about ready to knock on Amy's door....until Mary got there.
Pull them panties up missy!!!

OMG - and there is still one week before surgery!!!! Imagine on surgery day! The IV goes in during pre-op time and stays in until shortly before you go home.....however, they only stick you once with the needle, after that it doesn't hurt anymore......just don't look at the IV the rest of the time you are there - LOL!! You get to walk with your IV buddy, too!!!!
