What does your stomach feel like when you eat?

OK, I haven't been on in a while, I got an upper respiratory infection and am finally feeling better.  So here's my question.  What does your stomach feel like while you are eating?  As I'm eating, my stomach feels so strange, like it has indigestion right IN my stomach.  This is especially true for more solid meats.  This feeling gets stronger the more I eat and it's really uncomfortable.  When I feel like I'm done eating, then I have terrible burping episodes. Do you think 1. I'm not chewing well enough, 2. I'm eating too fast or 3. Not ready for solids.  I almost don't want to eat just so I avoid this awful burning sensation in my stomach.  This feeling will last for about 30 mins until it goes on thru my stomach.  I don't want to feel like this for the rest of my life! Advise please!!!!

Liz, The same thing happened to me. It was all trial and error at first. I too tried to figure out if I was eating too much or just too fast. Sometimes I think that it was a combination of both, I still have alot of trouble with meats. I call it the "Bariatric Pressure" feeling lol. It does get better. Just take your time and try to slow it down. I know that is easier said than done. I like your new pic. You can tell you are losing weight. Awesome!!!!! Rita

Thanks Rita!  Yes, it's this horrible indigestion and pressure in the stomach area, it's the weirdest feeling, it's almost too hard to explain.  I just wondered if I was normal, if the rest of you are feeling the same feeling.  I don't get nauseated or anything, but like a bad heartburn.  I'm hoping it's just my new stomach still healing itself.

Liz, I know exactly the feeling that you are talking about. I still get that today when I eat meat. It does get better. Hang in there, Rita

Hi Liz.....I like the picture, you look great!  I get the exact same pressure/heartburn when I don't chew food to well or the bite is too big or if I don't take my time between bites. Try making smaller bites, and chew really well. Solid food will cause this more than soft, so if you need a little more time to get used to eating slowly/chewing well/taking smaller bites, stick with softer foods for now, it will make the learning process easier......Glad you are feeling better.. -Anna

Liz - I was wondering what happened to you!  I missed you! I can't help you since I'm pre-op but I know that someone else asked about insane belching at last week's support group.  Unfortunately, no one else had experienced it so there was no answer for her.  I'm sorry!  I do wish I had an answer. Post this question on the VSG forum and I'll bet you might get some answers! Keep us posted girlie!  You are looking great!  And I see your ticker is speeding!!!! Kim

Liz, I haven't had the burning feeling like you describe, but I do sometimes have a feeling where it feels like it is just sitting like a weight in the bottom of my stomach.  Even the first bit will cause that super heavy feeling.  I wonder if I will experience what you're describing.  I know that you were talking about the gurgling before and that just started for me yesterday.  Boy, my little tummy is a chatterbox!  Hope you get some answers and you're doing so well - I'm so happy for you! Liz, I haven't had the feeling you describe, but then I'm not on solid foods yet. But, I was wondering if you are on a daily proton pump inhibitor? I take a Prevacid Solutab every day and I would hate to miss it. I do follow my surgeon's and nutritionist's advice to not take bites that are any bigger than my thumbnail, eat slowly, and chew each bite at least 30 times. I've missed you being here!
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Liz, I also like the new picture.  I gotta get a new one!!!!  I am all too familiar with that feeling.  UUUGGGHHH!  Of all things, turkey burger**** me the hardest.  Weird.  I can eat some hot stuff and chicken that bothers a lot of people...but not the turkey burgers.  I can eat turkey sausage but not the more lean turkey.  I had to take it slow.  I really stayed on the soft foods almost a month longer than they wanted me to but it was killing me to even eat a bite of solids at first.  Hang in there...you are getting lots of good advice.  It does get better I promise!!!
