Bless your heart. Open belly surgery just plain hurts! I'll be praying for your pain medicine to be effective and for you to feel better and better every day. It will take some time to be pain free and get your energy back, but it will be worth it in the long run, I'm sure. Please keep us updated as to how you're doing. I'm praying for you to have a speedy recovery and to get all the rest you need.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

Glad surgery went well.  I hope you start feeling better soon.  I have a question.  How did they determine weather they were doing open RNY or Laporscopic (sp)?  My surgery is the 18th of June and I just thought they did all Laporscopic and my letter said possible open RNY.  Thanks for the info and hope the pain goes soon.

My heart goes out to you! I had open rny and the pain was enough to make me scream sometimes! Plus not being able to do certain things was pure torture for me. I found out certain things while being in the hell whole. One if your house is not spotless *****ally cares. If you dont do the dishes after ya cook who cares. And if ya dont feel like looking like a barbie doll and you wear your favorite sweats and tee shirt who cares. Plus I hated not being able to sleep on my side or in my bed. I finally took the challenge after my 4th surgery(in less than 2 weeks after my rny) and climbed in my platform bed only to realize getting into it was hell alot easier then climbing out of it. The eight weeks of not being able to doing anything but moan I learned being a complusive cleaner and organizer just took up to much of my life and I also realize life does go on rather your chores get done or not. PLEASE do not lift anything over the weight limit that your doctor told you and wait to do those chores when you are healed enough to do them....take a hard heads advice. I didnt do like he said and I got a hernia for my trouble. Which became surgery number 5. Good luck to ya...and if ya got questions just ask..pattye
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

YOU ARE NOT A WEENIE AND YOU DO NOT SOUND LIKE ONE!!! I may not have had open rny so I can not completely sympathize with you but I had rny even if it was lap.  The pain is real and we did something completely and utterly major to our bodily which greatly explains the pain.  I am not sure how long the recovery is for open but my best friend that I have know since we were both 5 had hers done almost 10 years ago and said it took her 6 weeks to completely recover but she also ended up getting a hernia because she tried doing things a little too quickly that she wasnt supposed to.  I know we all question ourselves after, before and during the surgery as to whether we made the right decision.  The answer to that is most likely, YES..... I am 8 months out, below goal, and no problems to date... I dont regret making this decision to have the surgery, just how long it took me to do something about it, but dont think while i was learning how to eat, puking my guts up because I ate the wrong thing, or everytime my family would eat something that I couldnt have, I didnt question my choice.  Eventually your pain will go away and the results of your choice will start showing and continue to show.  They gave pain meds, take them...they are there for a reason...lol   As you said, Life is Beautiful!!!  Welcome to the losers bench... you are in my prayers for a speedy recovery.... You are not a weenie. Your open RNY does hurt more than lap. A friend of mine had hers open and she took longer to heal than I did. Go easy on yourself. Relax and sip, sip sip and walk, walk walk but not further than you know you can make it back safely.  I'm glad you're now on the losers bench with the rest of us! Remember: This too shall pass.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers you guys help me get through things, dont get me wrong my husband and kids are my rock but sometimes they just dont understand like yall do and that is because you have done the same thing. The reason i had open rny is because my doctor only does it that way!!!! also everyone says to keep taking the pain meds i am allergic to what he prescribes so i came home with no pain meds, but i am managing day by day, i will keep you all posted and updated thank you once again lots of love michelle

I just have to tell you something a little funny...though I didnt think so at the time...my husband is my rock....but when I talk about a rock, at that time I was talking about the brain part...there wasnt one.  I went to my husband giving him all the details about the day I was having surgery and he looked at me and said "good, I will schedule a golf game that day since you will be gone, can you drive yourself home after the surgery or do you need me to?"  I fell over.  He thought it was an in and out procedure and was going to go golf because for some reason I could drive 55 miles right afterward... I am really sorry that you dont have the pain meds...it will get better, just take it easy and slowly. Deni

(((((HUGS))))) Girl, you don't have to do this without pain meds. Call your Dr. right now and get something you are not allergic to. There are plenty of pain meds available that you can take. Don't be in pain. It will make it so much easier on you. Congratulations on your WLS journey.CALL THE DOCTOR NOW, Rita
