I am seriously looking into RNY surgery due to obesity and diabetes.  My insurance is Tricare, which will cover me (I think) but I know some docs won't accept Tricare patients.  Does anyone know if any OK docs will take it?  Thanks for any help.

I'm not certain, but OWLO (Oklahoma Weight Loss Options), Dr. Keith and Dr. Nelson accept most all insurances, even Meidcare and Medicaid, so it seems likely they would accept Tricare. Give them a call to find out (405) 360-7100 . Good Luck! I can  highly recommend them.
Blessings and Best Wishes! Shelly

I am aware of several patients from WeightWise who utilzed Tricare.  I think it is just a point of getting in there and having them run the necessary checks.  You might also be able to contact Tricare and see if they have a list of doctors authorized to handle bariatrics.  Don't be shy to ask for what you need to know!!

Where are you located?  Do you have Tricare Regular, Tricare Prime etc?  The difference is whether you have to pay copays and such.  I have Tricare Prime and live in Lawton.  My PCP gave me a referral to Wichita Falls to see Dr May and the only thing I had to pay out of pocket was the nutrition class that was around $100.  I had surgery last year in September and had no problems getting approved.  If you have any questions, I can try to help you....I know alot of people in this area who are military are getting approved with Tricare and going down to Wichita Falls.
