What do you eat on a daily basis?

Just wondering what you guys eat on a daily basis. Even though I know what to eat, I still find myself eating the same things over and over again. I think it is because I know that it is safe and I'm afraid to get out of that zone. I usually have alot of different kinds of beans, cheeses, protein shakes and protein bars. What do you have?

Rita,  Thanks for the thread.  I'm looking forward to the answers to give me some ideas for next month.   Unfortunately, for me, my only answers at this point are water, Crystal Light, sugar free popsicles and bouillion.  Have a great weekend! John

I experiment a lot. I adapt old recipes and am constantly trying new ones with both chicken and beef. A lot of Mexican recipes, and I've bought some of those Taste of Home special mags..the one with chicken is great. I adapt everything. HOWEVER, I NEVER want to see another hamburger pattie in my life. DH made me one again last night, and I said I"d try it. Big mistake. Huge. Major. I started at 9 and quit finally at midnight..intense pain. I think  I dumped on the fat content. Ground beef...crumbly kind with highest lean content, no problem. George Foreman'd that pattie since he ran the grill out of gas and forgot to get more...Ick, ick, icky poo.

Crickett, I do protein shakes for bkfast . If I remember... for lunch and dinner its either turkey taco meet with salsa and fat free cheese or fat free refried beans, some steak and more chicken on the george forman or baked. I have cravings for spicy foods. so I eat alot of salsa or jalepenos peppers...  I am burnt out on protein bars seem like they all taste the same and I have to invent ways to make the shakes better...
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I bought the cookbook upstairs in the FBH store about cutting out the carbs.  It has a lot of things in it that the chef has already converted to carb-free for you.  Everything from poultry to beef to seafood, etc.  I've enjoyed it AND  I've been feeding it to my hubby too.  The last one we tried was shrimp scampi.  Moi good! BTW, I thought we couldn't have protein shakes anymore after surgery.  I know this sounds awful, but that's what I'd REALLY like to have for breakfast because cottage cheese as well as eggs in the morning make me want to . We can have protein shakes after surgery. They just prefer you to consume your protein in food. I probably have about 3 a week. I have to change things up a bit now and then. If you know what I mean.

I am preop but I have tried a few recipes that people have mentioned on here and in person.. Phyllis told me she eats scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. I tried it.. its actually pretty good. I am sure it will be in my diet alot more after surgery.. I am good at trying new things now, i hope i can do it afterwards... lol.. i am set on mashed potatoes with protein powder and molly mcbutter, is it ok to use that after ???  I can do the natural powder in food but not a drink. it gags me in a drink, i have tried juice and milk but . I dont eat fish so looks like masha tadders, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and refriend beans are going to be my staples..lol yummy

Ok Crickett I was hoping that alot of people would respond to this question so I could take notes.  All I hear people eating is Mashed potatoes, refried beans, & cottage cheese.  So maybe ask again.  I need answers also. LOL

Heather, I guess no one is eating these days. I have to admit that mashed potatoes sound awesome. However, weight wise doesn't allow us to eat them. Actually a loaded baked potatoe would be heavenly right now.  Come on guys, tell us your secrets.

I eat a protein bar for breakfast...usually 3/4 of one.  I have a VERY picky tummy in the mornings...always have my entire life.  My daughter has it also.  I used to not eat breakfast but after WLS that is not a good idea!  Sometimes I will have 1/2 a protein bar 1/2 a banana just to get a little crazy.  lol     Lunch is the same almost every day too.  3 oz. chicken salad and 6 crackers or a taco without the shell.  I don't want to stray off the well-worn path for breakfast and lunch and end up at work!!   Dinners are NOT turkey burgers that my whole family loves...they make me   Go figure.  I can eat beef burgers on the George Foreman but not turkey????  hmmm  A lot of people have problems with chicken...not me.  Mostly, I modify what the family eats.  If we have spaghetti, I only eat the meat sauce (heavy on the meat) and none of the pasta.  I use the slotted spoon so I get less sauce and more meat and vegetables.  Whatever we ate prior to WLS, I will probably eat it just without rice, pasta, bread or potatoes.  I only cook about every other night though.  We have a lot of "fend for yourself" nights!  Johnsonville has turkey bratwurst that are quite tasty.  I will have 1 for dinner.  I enjoy a turkey breast & cheese sandwhich without the bread.  I love egg drop wonton soup and will have it about twice a month for dinner.  Meatloaf...I make mine with 1/2 lean beef and 1/2 ground turkey and Pace picante sauce...yum yum.  Cottage cheese and tuna.  If my tummy is unhappy, I love warm tomato soup.  Very soothing.  Just a month ago all I ate was beans and cheese!  I just couldn't handle new additions to my diet but I am doing much better now.
