So I went in for my CT results. Everything looked normal. THEN my  P A proceeded to tell me that quite frankly I sound crazy and paranoid. I am not over exaggerating! Those were her exact words. My response was: " first of all, how open to your advice do you expect a person to be when you walk in saying they sound crazy. What you said to me was extremely offensive. Secondly, How would my alleged "insanity" account for the gradual loss of vision in my right eye?" Her answer? "I really don't know". Then she went on to *explain* how depression and stress can have physical manifestations. Uh-huh. I know I'm depressed. I know I'm handling a lot of stress. I readily admit that these issues are exacerbating my current issues. They are not CAUSING them though. I was tempted to say : Has it occured to you that at this point you've still done very little investigating of these symptoms? Your inability to find a problem might indicate a lack of effort rather than a lack of a problem. I kept my mouth shut because arguing with a close minded, judgemental, self-righteous hag would only PROVE that I'm crazy. I thanked her for her time and left. NEXT DOCTOR, PLEASE!!!!

Let me be the first to say, "What an ignorant, insensitive, uneducated, uncaring person!!!!!!" Hun I am so sorry you had such a terrible experience. I could have said a lot more, but trying to keep a christian attitude. I know what I said was bad, but oh my. That's exactly what you don't want to tell a depressed person. Their crazy and paranoid?! If someone were to tell me that I would be upset too (and I have been diagnosed with postpartum depression a year ago). Get a second opinion, and a third, and a fourth, and however many more it takes to get some kind of answer. If anything she could have said "we don't see anything at this time, let's monitor it a few weeks and see you again for another look and acess the situation again". If you ever manage to calm down, I would write a polite but direct letter to her supervisor about her behavior and unprofessional comments. Best of luck and do something once a day that makes you smile. Love yourself and trust your own opinion and knowledge about what's going on with your body. Hugs~Joni

Daphie, I think you deserve much better than this type of insensitive treatment.  I would run, not walk, away from this PA/DR as fast as I could.  Seek out someone who has a little more compasion. The last thing you need right now is someone demeaning and belittleing you for simply being honest with how you are feeling and what you are experiencing.  I would also at least consider speaking with the supervisor of this individual. Keep us posted.  We are all here to support one another. Huggs, Pam

I would go to an ophthalmologist.  NOT an optometrist, but a medical doctor who deals with eyes.  They take regular medical insurance (NOT vision insurance) and they can do many different tests that will hopefully tell you why you are losing vision.  Your eyesight is not something to play around with.  Many times, once vision is lost it can NEVER be restored!!
