Do Liquids Ever End???
Tomorrow is my follow up appointment and I'm so thrilled it's finally here! I'm hoping for the word that I can have something besides full liquids! I'm not starving, or even terribly hungry, I just want something besides LIQUIDS!!!! I've tried not to whine, but I think the end of my *liquids only phase* may be just hours away! I'm daydreaming about refried beans with cheese .... just a little bit ... just something that isn't liquid! Also, today was my final Lovenox injection!!! I'm celebrating this one for sure!!! Those shots in the tummy get old quick and they leave big bruises ... so I'll happily return my medical waste container of used Lovenox syringes to Dr. Nelson's office tomorrow. : ) I'll be dancing out of the office tomorrow. : )
I feel for the both of ya! I was on liquids a little longer than then the norm and the first thing I tried to eat ...came back up with a vengence. I would get something to chew and chew on it till I spit it out. Now at 6 months post op it seems like forever since I was on liquids.
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
Just a gentle remidner to those of you who want sauces on your fat free refried beans: try to use mild so you don't inflame your new pouchie. When I was about a month out, I tried Pace Picante Mild Sauce...and OMG...it goes on EVERY thing. For some reason, I crave that. I eat tomatoes and prior to surgery, I didn't. Hooray for the liquid phase ending. I also enjoyed boiled eggs in the 2nd week of the soft food stage. Just remember to take it easy when you do get to eat and chew, chew, chew, chew, chew, chew before you swallow small bites. Sit a minute and see how you feel. Then, repeat the process. Best wishes to you all!
Hey Shelly,
Oh yes! I can remember the liquids only phase. And you will be so happy when its over.
With the type of surgery you had, do you have to get in at least 64 ozs. of water every day? I know that sounds like a lot - but it is surprising how quickly you will get used to it. I never go anywhere now without my waterbottle. And - it also does great things like keeping you hydrated and your skin will look great. Plus, it will help keeps "things" going smooth and regular in the bathroom as well.
All the Best.
Huggs,
Pam
