Which doctor?  However, you can't go wrong.  How much weight you have to lose and how many tests you need will determine how fast it all moves.  The older you are the more tests you have to have= ARGH!!  It hurts sometimes to be an old fart! =(   You have to do one support meeting.  We are meeting this Thursday at 6.  We would love to see you.  I am a short, fat, blonde that will be sitting next to another one that looks almost exactly like me- my sister.  We try to sit near the front.  Hope to see you then. Denise P.S How will I describe myself whenever I am not longer fat???  Uh, something to ponder while on this wild ride!
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I'm self pay and how fast you can get through really does depend on you.  I didn't mess around with my pre-op appts.  I got them all scheduled and over with as quick as possible.  The only thing I am waiting on is to drop the required 34 lbs which is 10% of my weight from when I weighed for the first time with them.  Happycat/Denise said it perfectly, this makes weigh****chers look like a feast!  But you get used to it after a few days.  I think it is better to go through these changes with food before you have your sleeve.  It seems to me that those who were required to follow a pre-op diet seemed to transition better after surgery.  I think we go through some of the "mourning" before we actually have surgery as opposed to some that just have to do a liquid thing the week before their surgery.  -Amy

Morgan: I wish I could answer some of your questions specifically - but I had my surgery almost two years ago and things have changed that I am out of date on some of it.   However, if you want to know about the overall program or either of the surgeons, I would be happy to help!  I can tell you this - you will not find a better program in the region for the surgeons, staff, hospital, pre and post care and the overall support.  You can check the reviews on this website to get some of the overall information and I urge you to do it. Where are you coming from?  I am in the process of putting together some support groups for the outlying WW patients and would be interested to see if I can cluster some people so that you don't have to travel so far.  It will be a couple months before they are up and running, but.... We have our own little support group going on here on the OK Board as well (I am also a certified Support Group Leader for OH so check my link out - more to come in the near future as well!)  WW does require that you attend a SG meeting prior to surgery- it is really important as well.  You may want to check your appointments and schedule it for a SG group day as well so you can do it all at once since you are traveling a distance.  There are 3 SG groups each month, a lap band and 2 RNY/Sleeve groups.  That information is on the www.weightwise.com page as well as linked to my own support group page on my signature. Please let us know if you have any questions.  We are happy to help!  We LOVE LOVE LOVE WeightWise!!! Welcome!!!

Hi Morgan - I had the VSG almost three months ago at WW with Dr. Broussard. My whole experience from day one has been absolutely great. The cost as Denise mentioned is $9995 plus $900 for the anestisiologist, my insurance covered most of the pre-op testing. I think testing is based on individuals, I had to do a sleep test because there were indications that I had sleep apnea (and I did), I also had to do a cardiologist evaluation because I took phen-fen pills in the past. The cardiologist had to do an angiogram, but all in all everything ended up ok. The testing, including the angiogram was completed within six weeks. It took me 5 and 1/2 months to get the surgery, only because I was asked to lose 60 lbs before surgery (this is not the norm, I believe it is normally 10% of your weight). The reason for the 60 lbs is because I originally wanted the RNY and being that I am short, my weight put my BMI at 69 and Dr. Broussard  said the I had to bring it down to 60. So, it took me a while to lose the 50 lbs simply because I was not perfect with it and stumbled a few times....but was very worth it.  I think you will be very happy with WW, I don't feel I could have gotten a better suregeon/facility and group of people to get me on the right path of the weight loss journey. Good luck - Anna

First of all, let me just say I LOVE YOUR KITTIE AVATAR!! So cute. To answer your questions: 1. I started my journey in June with the seminar and started on the pre-op diet. I thought I wanted the band, but after consultation with Dr. Walton, we decided on RNY, and I couldn't be more pleased. 2. We set the surgery date for Oct. 18 because that was Fall Break.  I started the 1200 calorie diet with Jess and then moved to the Aggressive Ketotic because I wasn't losing fast enough. I had to lose 30 pounds prior to surgery. I did it. 3.Pre-op diet was really not that bad. I enjoyed the things I got to eat from the nutrition store. Let me just say that if I could have the double chocolate Crispy 15 bars again, I would. Those are heaven. 4. My insurance paid for all the pre-op stuff, just not the actual "op". 5. We used Capital One Financing, but others have used Care Credit. 6. Travel wasn't that much because I live in Edmond. A high point of being private care is you can set your date faster since you don't have to jump through hoops like a 6 month diet for the insurance. Of course, the downside is what you have to pay. I feel like it was worth every penny and wish I'd done it sooner.

7. You will love your experience with Weight Wise. Everyone is friendly and their care is outstanding.

Welcome!

I was a self pay and had my initial appointment on March 6th.  I didn't have to lose any weight, so I could have made my appointment as early as the end of March/beginning of April.  I chose to make it toward the end of April - better timing for me.  I can't really speak to the pre-op diet, mostly I had to eat more protein and limit my carbs.  I did use care credit - they had a lower interest rate than capital one.  I did most of my appointments in one visit.  Hope this was helpful.
