IS IT TOO EARLY FOR A STALL?
Hello everybody! I am 5 weeks post op and I haven't lost any weight for 8 days now. I think I am still losing inches, but I'm ready to throw the bathroom scales through the window! I don't weigh very often, maybe every 2-3 days. I also had a menstrual cycle in this time frame, and in the past would gain 5-7 pounds during and be back down afterward. This cycle however, no gain, no loss.
Also, I have had an upset stomach since last Sunday. Slight nausea if I eat or not. Has anybody else had anything like this? Any advice?
Thanks, Dionne
Are you taking a proton pump inhibitor (Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, etc)? If not, stomach acid may be causing your nausea. Also, if you aren't getting in you fluids, that can cause nausea, too. Call your surgeon about the nausea.
Many folks with VSG seem to have their first stall at about 3 to 4 weeks post op. Good Luck on busting through it!
I haven't had my surgery yet but I have read a ton of posts from others talking about stalling anywhere from 3 weeks to a couple of months out. It also seems that stalls still happen from time to time even after that. I think that is where lakergirl has the right idea about not weighing, but I don't have that much self control.

I am so glad that you did this post. I havent lost anything in about a week and I was thinking maybe the surgery didn't work or something and to embarressed to ask. Tomorrow will be 1 month since surgery, so I am right there with ya on being 4 weeks out and first stall. Just wish I knew what to do to kick it into high gear.

I haven't felt very well all week but I am going to try to go to an aerobics class tonight. Maybe that will jump start my weight loss back. I am also going to start weighing only once a week. It has to start going down eventually. I guess it is a common problem and normal, but it is nice to know its not just me. Dionne
